Companies partner up for Industry 4.0 chip
DELTA Microelectronics announced that it has joined forces with Dream Chip, Germany’s largest independent Engineering Service Provider, to deliver a digital chip for an Industry 4.0 manufacturing customer. Designed by Dream Chip ASIC Design group, the chip provides controller functionality and will replace the previous generation ASIC. Chip production will be handled by DELTA’s full supply chain services and is expected Q1 2016.
Airport noise tool beats tight deadlines
A project to measure airport noise led to DELTA - one of the leading acoustical consultant companies in Denmark subscribing to Brüel & Kjær’s Noise Sentinel On Demand service. Making actual noise measurements and calculating how changes in air traffic affect the propagation of noise can be time consuming and expensive.
Delta Electronics wins 2015 red dot award for product design
Delta Electronics has just received a Red Dot Award: Product Design 2015 for Golden Eagle, a 600W 48VDC power supply fortelecomms applications. The elegant exterior of Golden Eagle contains best-in-class energy-efficient features setting a new benchmark for power management throughout the industry. As stated by the Jury, "This power supply unit captivates with its self-contained design. Its exceptionally small and flat form allows it to fit almos...

Electronic Component Testing: A Non-Contact Sport
By Kristof Maddelein FLIR Systems As electronic circuit boards and components get smaller and more powerful, inherent heat can cause significant damage. Infrared thermography can identify hot spots, allowing for improved thermal management and greater advances in circuit board design.Electronics don’t like it hot. That’s why electronic systems designers are looking for ways to keep their components cool as the sizes of their devices...
Battery stack monitor achieves 0.04% measurement accuracy
A drop-in replacement for the LTC6804, Linear Technology has announced the LTC6811 high voltage battery stack monitor featuring higher performance and 25% lower price. This a complete battery measuring IC for EVs and HEVs that incorporates a deep buried Zener voltage reference, high voltage multiplexers, 16-bit delta-sigma ADCs and a 1Mb/s isolated serial interface.
Toshiba’s new photocouplers TLP7820 and TLP7920 are for current sensing and voltage sensing in power converters.
Toshiba’s TLP7820 and TLP7920 photocouplers are designed for current sensing and voltage sensing in power converters. They achieve high accuracy through the inclusion of a delta sigma ADC. Both versions are analogue output type devices and available at distributor Rutronik as of now; digital output variants will follow.
Dual output DC/DC controller offers programmable loop compensation
Linear announces theLTC3884, a dual output current mode synchronous step-down DC/DC controller with programmable loop compensation and I²C-based PMBus interface. This device enables the use of very low DC resistance (DCR) power inductors (0.3mΩ) by enhancing the SNR of the current sense signal to maximise converter efficiency and increase power density.
DC/DC converters save board space
The first global authorised distributor to stock and ship the new S24SP DC/DC converters from Delta Electronics/Power is Mouser Electronics. Based on an industry-standard footprint and pinout, the S24SP series consists of high-efficiency, single-output DC/DC converters available in 40W and 60W models with efficiencies of up to 93 percent.
