Teaching an old dog new tricks with Gunnar Holm of Avnet Embedded
The Qseven standard is acknowledged as one of the most flexible and powerful COM platforms for a wide variety of applications, from low power mobile devices upwards. While traditionally based on the X86 architecture, solutions are now emerging that are based on other CPUs, which deliver many benefits and offer users an even wider choice. Gunnar Holm, Field Applications Engineer with Avnet Embedded, explores further.
Schneider Electric Selects Cypress 1-Mbit Serial nvSRAMs
Cypress have revealed that Schneider Electric has designed Cypress’s nonvolatile static random access memories into two of its new programmable automation controllers. The Schneider BMXCRA31210 and BMXERT1604 controllers each employ Cypress’s CY14B101Q2 1-Mbit nvSRAM as a time-stamp buffer. When an event such as the closure of a switch or power line defect is detected, the nvSRAM records it in a rolling buffer. These types of events can occur...
