Outdoor test rig enables comparison of bearings for high loads
A system for testing has been commissioned by igus in its own test laboratory, especially for testing high loads in machine applications found in the agricultural or construction industries. The front loader, which moves 24/7, is located outdoors and therefore exposed to all the elements. This enables igus to compare different bearing combinations in order to find the best products for the respective heavy-duty application.
LVDT sensors feature integrated signal processing
Hoffmann + Krippner has announced a new product addition to their redesigned, user-friendly online shop. In addition to Sensofoil linear and rotary membrane potentiometers, cleanroom/medical keyboards and emPC A/RPI Industrial PCs, the shop now features inelta LVDT linear displacement sensors.
Biogas plant doubles in capacity to supply 1,000 households
In Iffendic, Brittany, German biogas plant manufacturer WELTEC BIOPOWER is currently working on an extension AD project withits French partner WELTEC Agripower. The biogas plant in Iffendic had already been built back in 2014, and now its capacity is being doubled. The biogas plant now generates 500kW a day, enough to supply almost 1,000 households.
Temperature sensor offers low noise performance
Designer and manufacturer of highly rugged MEMS capacitive accelerometer chips and modules, Silicon Designs has announced the immediate availability of its Model 1525 series, a family of commercial and inertial-grade MEMS capacitive accelerometers, offering low noise performance.
LiDAR sensor enables 3D detection of distances
A 3D LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) sensor equipment that measures distance between the equipment and the object from the round-trip travelling time of the pulse laser that is projected to the object has been developed by Panasonic. The sensor accurately measures the direction of and distance to objects with a wide angle of view, which is critical for autonomous operation of mobile robots.
Polymer banknotes exhibit longer lives than paper versions
Ever since the first banknotes were created and recorded in the 7th century over in China they have been made from cotton paper.Paper money did not really catch on in Europe, however, until nearly a thousand years later. It was first widely used in the UK in 1759, when gold shortages caused by the Seven Years War forced the Bank of England to issue £10 notes for the first time. The first £5 notes followed about 20 years later at the st...

At Agritechnica 2017, taking place in Hanover, Germany, from 12th to 18th November, NSK will exhibit a wide range of rolling bearings that have been purpose-designed for use in agricultural machinery. At booth E44 in hall 15, the company’s display will centre on Agri Disc Hubs and Large Hubs. These ready-to-install units contain double-row, angular-contact ball bearings which are used extensively in agricultural machines that have to operat...
Hydraulic hose offers high pressure capabilities
Power management company, Eaton, has expanded its range of hydraulic hoses with the launch of the Dynamax EC881 hose series. Qualified to 1 million impulse cycles, this new two wire-braided hose has been designed to last and withstand tough applications. Intended for deployment in mobile applications such as compact construction equipment, agricultural vehicles, aerial lift platforms and forestry machines, this hose is also suitable for industria...
Chinese machinery production set to grow in 2017
