EV heating element self-regulates, ensuring stability
In contrast to traditional heating elements for conventional 12V onboard power supplies, TDK's recently-releasedEPCOS PTC heating elements are designed for the considerably higher voltages found in EV batteries. The rated voltages of these heating elements range from 200 to 500V, producing surface temperatures of up to 250°C. Depending on design, these heating elements are suitable for safe operation at up to 1000V.
Power supplies can be paralleled for larger systems
Suitable for deposition processes, ROVs, ATE systems and general laboratory and industrial use, 600W programmable DC power supplies have been released by TDK. The devices, which expand the company’s Z+ series, are offered with output voltages of up to 160, 320 or 650VDC.
Report highlights conditions required for embedded die in substrate to achieve commercial success
In its latest advanced packaging report, entitledFan-Out and Embedded Die: Technologies & Market, Yole Développement commented “embedded die in substrate is a promising packaging technology”. According to Yole’s team, this approach becomes more and more attractive for potential customers because of its numerous advantages.
Data book supports the selection of electrolytic capacitors
A fully revised data book on EPCOS aluminium electrolytic capacitors with crew terminal, snap-in, axial and single-ended connections, has been released by TDK. The B43704/B43724 and B43705/B43725 series of screw-terminal capacitors, which feature a significantly improved current capability, are included within the book.
Halogen-free MLCCs support the design of green applications
Two series of leaded MLCCs, which are halogen-free according to IEC 61249-2-21, have been released by TDK. The FG series consists of commercial-grade devices, while the FA series consists of automotive-grade devices. To support the design of environmentally friendly applications, the MLCCs do not use halogen as a flame retardant in the external resin coating.
Eighth brick DC/DC converters feature an efficiency of 95.5%
Utilising digital non-linear adaptive control, the iEH series of 300W eighth brick DC/DC converters has been released by TDK. Featuring a reduced component count, the devices offer improved dynamic response, better system stability and increased reliability, making them suitable for demanding communications, test and broadcast applications.
Online tool searches for IGBT snubber capacitors
TDK Corporation presents the EPCOS Snubber Cap Finder, an online tool that simplifies and speeds up the search for suitable snubber capacitors to protect IGBT modules against voltage peaks. Upon entering the manufacturer's IGBT code number in the search mask, the integrated database, covering over 1000 IGBT modules from major suppliers, locates the appropriate capacitors.
Multilayer low pass filter achieves 50% size reduction
TDK has released a multilayer low-pass filter for LTE and other next-gen high-speed wireless communication systems. Thanks to thinner ceramic layers, finer conductor lines and an optimised internal electrode design, the DEA071910LT-4003B1 achieves a miniaturised footprint of 0.65x0.5mm and a slimmer insertion height of just 0.3mm (form factor 06505).
Heat-sink features both surface mount & leaded components
The UK Intellectual Property Office has approved TDK-Lambda UK’s power supply heatsink arrangement patent application. To dissipate heat, power supply designers utilise a variety of components, including surface mount and leaded parts. These components, however, require different cooling arrangements.
Redesigned website offers simpler navigation
TDK-Lambda has launched its revamped company website which features easy to navigate icons to provide a more user-friendly experience with quick access to the product finder, FAQs, technical support, social media links and software tools such as drivers for programmable power supplies.
