Leading memory for AI, IoT edge and autonomous driving vehicles
Electronic Specifier had a chance to meet with memory solutions provider Micron at the recent electronica exhibition in Munich. The company, with headquarters in Boise, Idaho, specialises in DRAM, NAND Flash, NOR Flash, Hybrid memory solutions and Solid State Drives (SSDs), which have applications in a broad line of industries such as automotive, consumer, embedded, industrial, mobile, networking and financial.
Coating and curing like nothing before
People often don’t realise how important coatings are to a lot of products and industries.Electrolube recently attended electronica 2018, to show live demonstrations of what it describes to be revolutionary, and one of a kind, new 2K850 conformal coating material using a line-up of three machines covering: dispensing and cure, followed by an end-of-line test of the coating using new technology.
Harvested energy enables truly self-powered IoT applications
At electronica ON Semiconductor introduced its Bluetooth Low Energy Switch reference design that operates entirely from harvested energy. The platform demonstrates how the RSL10 System-in-Package (SIP) can enable Bluetooth 5 devices that are battery-less and entirely self-powered, requiring no additional energy source. Application examples include wall and lighting control, building automation, and asset tracking.
Wafer fab capability signals the coming of a new generation
Last week at the electronica trade show,Menlo Microannounced that its Digital-Micro-Switch (DMS) technology platform has been successfully ported from an R&D facility to a commercial 8” wafer manufacturing line. In partnership withCorning Incorporated, andSilex Microsystems, Menlo is now sampling product from this new manufacturing line and will begin scaling up the production of its micro-mechanical switches before year’s end.
Fully-integrated nanopower PMICs for low power IoT applications
At the electronica trade show,Dialog Semiconductorunveiled its first fully-integrated nanopower PMICs for IoT applications, the DA9070 and DA9073.The new, more powerful PMICs build on the success of Dialog’s first nanopower offerings, further highlighting how Dialog has pushed the boundaries of its PMIC technology to improve low power IoT applications.
electronica: Chip-set takes oscilloscope to new level
A test and measurement highlight at electronica was RIGOL Technologies’ addition to its UltraVision II family of oscilloscopes. The MSO5000 Series digital oscilloscope delivers transformational price/performance capability in a bench oscilloscope, says RIGOL. At the heart of the UltraVision II architecture is the Phoenix chip-set.
electronica: HARTING and Heilind seal global pact
HARTING Technology Group and specialist distributor Heilind Electronics have agreed a global partnership. The agreement was sealed at electronica 2018 in Munich. It is an extension of an initial agreement between the two companies in North America.
electronica: Sensors guide pinpoints applications
A Sensors Application Guide which – for the first time – is split by market sectors rather than by franchise or device type was premiered at electronica by TTI. Sections include Smart Building; Smart Appliances; HVAC; Renewable Energy; Robotics and Factory Automation; Materials Handling; EV and Automotive; Medical; Wearables; Drones and Unmanned Vehicles.
electronica: Mouser and Sigfox sign global pact
A global distribution agreement with Sigfox, the Internet of Things (IoT) services provider, was unveiled at electronica by Mouser Electronics. The deal covers Sigfox’s Sens’it Discovery solution and SDR dongle. Sens’it Discovery is a customisable IoT solution that combines the Sens’it 3 device with the sensit.io application, along with Sigfox connectivity.
electronica: Design tool puts pep into IoT solutions
A design tool which will help developers and providers to create IoT solutions was unveiled at electronica 2018. The DK IoT Studio is an integrated development environment (IDE) that allows users to go from idea to prototype in minutes without writing any code. The tool, developed in partnership with Atmosphere IoT has an intuitive user interface along with drag-and-drop functionality.
