Hybrid planar transformers offer lower cost
Vishay Intertechnology introduced a series of 250 W full-bridge hybrid planar transformers for avionics, industrial control, and alternative energy control applications. Featuring a unique winding structure, TPL-2516 series devices provide a cost-effective solution compared to traditional planar transformers while featuring smaller packages, improved performance, and easy customisation.
'Wet' vs. polymer aluminium capacitors
Aluminium electrolytic and polymer wound aluminium electrolytic capacitors may seem similar at first glance, because their construction and appearance are very similar. However, the technologies offer very different performance characteristics. Adam Chidley, European Product Manager at Avnet Abacus explains.
Bi-directional PAR TVS are now available from TTI
Industry’s first bi-directional 1500W surface-mount PAR TVS in a low-profile eSMP SMPC (TO-277A) package are now available in Europe at TTI. Vishay TPCxxCA Series devices have a low profile of typically just 1.1mm, (around 52% lower than the traditional SMC package) and a 38% smaller footprint.Combined with high power density, Vishay’s TPCxxCA Series TVS enable designers to save board space and reduce costs.
Transient voltage suppressors save board space
Claimed to be the industry’s first bi-directional 1500W surface-mount PAR transient voltage suppressors (TVS) in a low-profile eSMP® SMPC (TO-277A) package, Vishay’s TPCxxCA Series is now available in Europe at TTI. The devices have a low profile of typically just 1.1mm, (around 52% lower than the traditional SMC package) and a 38% smaller footprint.
App note highlights advantages of WSL Power Metal Strip Resistors
Vishay Intertechnology introduced a new application note — "Intelligent Li-ion Rechargeable Batteries and Power Metal Strip Resistors" — that explores the challenges in assuring high performance from intelligent Li-ion rechargeable batteries, and how those challenges can be addressed with the company's WSL Power Metal Strip current sense resistors.
Reflective optical sensor saves space
The Optoelectronics group of Vishay Intertechnology introduced a new reflective optical sensor for smart home, industrial, and office applications. Saving space compared to previous-generation solutions, the Vishay Semiconductors VCNT2020 combines an infrared emitter, silicon phototransistor detector, and daylight blocking filter in a miniature 2.5 mm by 2.0 mm by 0.8 mm surface-mount package.
Chip capacitors deliver "highest" capacitance density
A new series of vPolyTan multi-anode polymer surface-mount chip capacitors that delivers increased volumetric efficiency for computing, telecom, and industrial applications has been announced by Vishay Intertechnology. Combining polymer tantalum technology with Vishay's patented multi-array packaging (MAP), the T59 series delivers the industry's highest capacitance density while maintaining best-in-class ESR.
Smart power stages feature integrated current monitors
Meeting the need for real-time processor and memory power consumption monitoring in telecom equipment and datacentre servers, Vishay Intertechnology has introduced two 60A VRPower smart power stages with integrated current and temperature monitors for multi-phase DC/DC systems.
Automotive grade inductors feature e-shield to lower costs
The series of low-profile, high-current inductors from Vishay Intertechnology has been expanded to feature integrated e-shields for reduction of EMI with automotive grade devices in the 2525, 3232 and 4040 case sizes. The Vishay Dale IHLE-2525CD-5A, IHLE-3232DD-5A, and IHLE-4040DD-5A lower costs and save board space by eliminating the need for separate board-level Faraday shielding.
Lead times cut for high-current dual inductors
Reduced lead times of 10 to 12 weeks have been announced for Vishay Intertechnology’s IHLD-3232HB-5A and IHLD-4032KB-5A low-profile, high-current dual inductors. The Automotive Grade IHLD series devices offer a high operating temperature range to +155 °C and save board space by combining two inductors in one 3232 and 4032 package, respectively.
