Software language accelerates developments in AI, medicine and robotics
The fight against the Coronavirus does not only take place in medical laboratories, but also in computing. Handling the huge amounts of data for vaccine development requires advanced tools: 'Julia', a relatively new software language, has surged in popularity. It delivers comparable speed and functionality to programming in C while also allowing scientific and numerical computing.

What will life be like in 100 years?
Technological innovation seems to speed up every year. If you go back far enough, then quality of life didn’t change very much from one century to the next, and before the industrial revolution, neither did technology. Now though, the human race is going at light speed, and it’s hard to predict what will happen over the next decade, let alone the next 100 years; but with a pinch of salt in mind, what might be waiting for us around the...
White chip LEDs with high luminous intensity
ROHM has developed ultra-compact high luminous intensity white chip LEDs, called CSL1104WB. The products are optimised for applications requiring high brightness white light emission, such as IoT devices, drones, and other battery equipped applications.
Predictions in technology are almost always wrong
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is on the cusp of becoming an irreplaceable tool in a wide range of fields, such as working from home, avionics, telecommunications and defence. The latest frontier in this development is ruggedisation and miniaturisation. Here, Andy Conway, Sales Manager at Embedded Computing Specialist Recab UK, reflects on the unpredictability of the inventions that led to the breakthroughs behind AI.
