Ultra-Compact bipolar 2-channel stepping motor driver
Toshiba Electronics Europe has expanded its family of stepper motor drivers with an ultra-compact device offering a maximum output withstand voltage of 40V and output current of 2.0A. The TC78S122FTG will help designers save space, reduce power consumption, lower heat dissipation and minimise vibration and acoustic noise in high-speed motion control designs. Target applications include surveillance cameras, ATMs, office automation equipment, fact...
MCUs for multiple motor control
The MK4 group is the second offering in Toshiba’s TXZ family of high speed, low power consumption microcontrollers that incorporate the ARM Cortex-M core. The new range of microcontrollers allow a single-chip, with a low pin-count (32- to 64-pins), to control multiple motors.
Addressing the trade-off in wearables
Processor technology is key to optimising functionality and battery life in wearables to meet the performance/power trade-off, writes Luciano Duca, General Manager, Toshiba Electronics Europe.
Solid-state batteries to the rescue!
In 2016, Li-ion Batteries (LIB) celebrated their silver jubilee, i.e. they have been on the market, virtually unchanged, for the last 25 years. Dr Lorenzo Grande, Technology Analyst, IDTechEx discusses.
60V MOSFET optimises performance
The offering of compact, high-efficiency, high-speed switching MOSFETs from Toshiba Electronics Europe has expanded further. The U-MOS IX-H family has a SMD device offering a maximum VDSS rating of 60V and a maximum drain current of 100A.The TPH1R306PL is supplied in a SOP Advance surface mount package and has an ultra-low typical on resistance (RDS(ON) of just 1.0mΩ (VGS = 10V).
Offering efficiency in a variety of conditions
Two new N-channel devices has been added to Toshiba Electronics Europe’s U-MOS IX-H family of switching MOSFETs. The TK3R1E04PL and TK3R1A04PL can help designers to improve performance and reduce power consumption in power supply applications such as DC-DC converters and the secondary side circuits of SMPS AC-DC power supplies.
2016 semiconductor capex at its highest in 5 years
Global semiconductor capital expenditures (capex) are expected to return to the level of 2011 either this year or next. 2011 was the record year for capex as the industry returned to growth following the 2009-2010 recession.
Five top-20 semiconductor suppliers to show double-digit gains in 2016
IC Insights will release its November Update to the 2016 McClean Report later this month and will release its 20th anniversary edition of The McClean Report in January of next year. The November Update includes the latest semiconductor industry capital spending forecast, a detailed forecast of the IC industry by product type through 2020, and a look at the top-25 semiconductor suppliers expected for 2016. The top-20 2016 semiconductor suppliers a...
Low-input current drive features buffer-free direct drive
A series of low-input current drive, rail-to-rail output, gate-drive photocouplers has been introduced by Toshiba Electronics Europe. With threshold input current of 2mA (max), half the 4mA (max) of Toshiba’s existing products, these new photocouplers allow buffer-free direct drive of low- to medium-power IGBTs and MOSFETs from microcontrollers.
Flash family range expanded
A new device has been added to the family of 24nm flash SLC (single-level cell) memory devices from Toshiba Electronics Europe that provides a capacity of 16GB in an industry-standard 48-pin TSOP package.
