Motherboards target IoT & mobile applications
Targeting energy-saving IoT and mobile applications, the N3000 Intel Pentium/Celeron family of motherboards has been introduced by DFI. Based on Intel’s new 14nm packing technology, the devices are able to deliver ultra-low power consumption and provide better computing and graphic performance compared to previous generations.
Piezoelectric jetting technology combines speed & accuracy
Nordson EFD hasintroduced piezoelectric jetting technology that removes the barrier between speed and accuracy. EFD's PICOPµlsevalve and PICOToµchcontroller make it possible to dispense very exact, repeatable micro-deposits as small as 0.5nL at up to 500Hz continuous, with 1500Hz maximum bursts - an industry best.
Mitigating spark flash dangers in hazardous environments
Wherever sources of sparks or excess heat are present, substances such as gases, petroleum products and airborne dusts or fibres pose a serious risk of triggering an explosion and subsequent fire. To minimise these losses, regulatory bodies around the world have worked to refine standards that will mitigate the spark flash potential that can be found in these working environments. Thermal image sensor targets outdoor leisure market
One of the first thermal image sensors designed in accordance with JEDEC standards for SMT assembly has been released by ULIS. The Pico384 Gen2 is, therefore, compatible with standard industrial integration and handling processes for high volume production, such as robotic pick and place and oven reflow. As an SMD, the device enables thermal camera makers to further automate their assembly lines, lower the cost of integration and thereby boost pr...
Compact, low-power OCXO suits aero/mil applications
IQD's latest Oven Controlled Crystal Oscillator (OCXO), the IQOV-71 series, is housed in 4-pad plastic package with a fibre glass base measuring only 9.7x7.5mm. Despite its size, the model offers very low frequency stabilities down to ±10ppb over an operating temperature range of -20 to +70°C or ±20ppb over -40 to +85°C making it a class leader for this type of high performance device.
ARM Cortex M0+ MCUs feature segment LCD controller
Expanding its family of secure, ARM Cortex M0+-based MCUs, Atmel has announced the SAM L22 series. These devices offer an ultra-low power capacitive touch with a segment LCD controller that can deliver up to 320 segments, making them suitable for low-power applications such as thermostats, electric/gas/water meters, home control, medical and access systems.
Software release addresses new serial bus standards
In response to the proliferation of serial bus communications in electronic designs, the latest version of PicoScope now has decoding and analysis of sixteen protocols included as standard. When used with the deep memory included in most PicoScope oscilloscopes, this new software release creates a powerful debugging and troubleshooting tool at no extra cost to PicoScope owners.
Gateway solution targets IoT applications
An IoT gateway solution powered by the Intel Quark SoC x1000 processor and designed as a compact size, high capability, multi-connectivity gateway has been released by Advantech. The UBC-221 is suitable for IoT or automation control applications such as smart city parking, security and surveillance as well as industrial control.
Powered device interface controllers suit forward/flyback topologies
Linear Technology has introduced the LT4276 LTPoE++, PoE+ and PoE-compliant Powered Device (PD) interface controllers for applications requiring 2 to 90W of delivered power. The LT4276 integrates a PD controller and an isolated switching regulator controller, capable of synchronous operation in both forward and flyback topologies with auxiliary power support.
Model to minimise the power consumption of mobile networks
At a celebratory event in New York City to announce the final results of the GreenTouch consortium’s five years of work, imec unveiled an advanced power model that provides a realistic prediction of the power consumption of present and future cellular base stations, which are vital to the mobile networks used by millions of people worldwide each day. The model supports a broad range of operating conditions and cellular base station types, c...
