The future of technology innovations bought to the market
On its 15th birthday, electronica China closed successfully, breaking records across the board and providing unparalleled opportunities for companies big and small to launch innovations to the Asian market. 1,088 exhibitors from 31 countries showcased at both trade fairs—electronica China and productronica China—their latest technologies across 62,000 square meters of exhibition space this week.
MWC 2016: Sensor hubs aim at wearables market
A family of sensor hub products with optimised vital sensing features has been introduced by Bosch Sensortech at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona (Feb 22-25). These devices fuse photoplethysmography (PPG) signals with the onboard inertial MEMS sensors signals for robust, motion compensated heart rate measurement and provide users with valuable insights about their wellbeing and fitness level using Firstbeat’s field-proven vital analytics ...
12 DOF smart sensor development kit targets VR & the IoT
Dialog Semiconductor has introduced what it claims is the world’s lowest power and smallest 12 DOF wireless smart sensor development kit for IoT applications. The kit combines Dialog’s DA14583 SmartBond Bluetooth Smart SoC with Bosch Sensortec’s gyroscope, accelerometer, magnetometer and environmental sensors on a tiny 16x15mm PCB, supplied as a dongle in a plastic housing.
Engineers develop networked self-analysing electric motors
A team of engineers from Saarland University are developing intelligent motor systems that function without the need for additional sensors. By essentially transforming the motor itself into a sensor, the team led by Professor Matthias Nienhaus are creating smart motors that can tell whether they are still running smoothly, can communicate and interact with other motors and can be efficiently controlled.
IoT Sensor Platform launched at embedded world
Advantech, along with ARM, Bosch Sensortec, Sensirion and Texas Instruments (TI), announced the collaboration of a new Internet of Things (IoT) sensor platform called M2.COM at embedded world 2016. The IoT era brings new opportunities to traditional industries and drives business evolution for the next generation of products and services.
Industry heavyweights collaborate on TSN testbed
The Industrial Internet Consortium (IIC) and industry leaders including Bosch Rexroth, Cisco, Intel, KUKA, NI, Schneider Electric and TTTech will collaborate to develop the world’s first Time Sensitive Networking (TSN) testbed. These organisations aim to advance the network infrastructure to support the future of the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and Industry 4.0.
