Light sensor provides design flexibility for gesture applications
The Optoelectronics group of Vishay Intertechnology has introduced a new fully integrated Automotive Grade proximity and ambient light sensor for gesture recognition. Featuring Filtron technology, the Vishay Semiconductors VCNL4035X01 combines photo detectors for proximity and ambient light, a signal conditioning IC, a 16-bit ADC, and a driver for up to three external IREDs in one compact 4 mm by 2.36 mm by 0.75 mm surface-mount package.
Corrosion protection enhanced by shunt resistor
A new Automotive Grade Power Metal Strip battery shunt resistor that offers a 36W power capacity in the 8518 case size with tin plating on the terminals has been released by Vishay Intertechnology. Featuring extremely low resistance values down to 50µΩ, the Vishay Dale WSBS8518...14 will lead to increased accuracy and lower costs compared to Hall Effect current sensing solutions, while its tin plating assists with PCB mounting and pro...
Silicon PIN photodiode slims down wearable designs
The optoelectronics portfolio at Vishay Intertechnology has been expanded with the introduction of a new high speed silicon PIN photodiode with enhanced sensitivity for visible light. Offered in a compact 5 mm by 4 mm top-view, surface-mount package with a low 0.9 mm profile, the Vishay Semiconductors VEMD5080X01 offers fast switching times and low capacitance for precise signal detection in wearable devices and medical, industrial, and automotiv...
Wire strain gauges handle high-temperature environments
Free-filament wire strain gauges and ceramic cements, expressly designed for extreme high-temperature environments are now available globally from the Micro-Measurements brand of Vishay Precision Group. The new free-filament wire strain gauges allow for high-reliability measurements of both dynamic and limited-static strain, at much higher temperatures than have been traditionally possible with conventional bonded strain gauge designs.
3D imaging and autofocus drive the IR light source market
It is believed that 3D imaging, gas sensing and autofocus will fuel the Infra-Red (IR) light source market. The More than Moore market research and strategy consulting company, Yole Développement (Yole), has announced a $1.5bn opportunity in 2022 in multiple applications and potentially $3.8bn in 2027.“Some applications will generate large revenues and strong growth rates during the next five years,” explained Pars Mukish, Busin...
Pre-attached teflon leadwire features pre-cabled gages for stress analysis
The Micro-Measurements brand of Vishay Precision Group has announced an optional pre-attached Teflon leadwire for its CEA- and WK-series strain gages, Option SP35, in support of high-temperature stress analysis requirements to +400°F (+204°C).
Inductor offers high temperature performance for automotive applications
A new AEC-Q200-qualified IHLP low profile, high current inductor in the 1616 case size that combines a high operating temperature to +155 °C with a low profile of 2mm to save space in automotive applications has been announced by Vishay Intertechnology. The Vishay Dale IHLP-1616BZ-5A is optimised for energy storage in DC/DC converters up to 2MHz.
IR receivers save space in consumer products
To broaden its optoelectronics portfolio, Vishay Intertechnology has introduced two new series of miniature infrared (IR) receiver modules for IR remote control applications. To save space in consumer products, the Vishay Semiconductors TSOP39xxx and TSOP59xxx series devices are the industry's first native top-view IR receivers in a through-hole package.
Firmware upgrade enhances measurement amplifiers
A new firmware upgrade, revision v1.3.0, for its industry best-selling G5 Series measurement amplifiers has been released by BLH Nobel, a brand of Vishay Precision Group. Originally launched in February 2016, the BLH Nobel G5 Series combines standard interfaces, a modular design, and onboard integral web servers for streamlined commissioning and calibration functions, along with reduced operations and maintenance costs.
Power MOSFETs lower conduction, switching losses
With the new n-channel SiHP065N60E, distributor Rutronik presents the first device in Vishay’s fourth generation of 600V E Series power MOSFETs. This new MOSFET lowers conduction and switching losses while increasing efficiency. Thus, it is ideal for applications in telecommunication, industrial, and enterprise power systems.
