TVS diodes target DC line protection in aviation electronics
Expanding its offering of high-reliability Transient Voltage Suppression (TVS) diodes available with customised upscreening and sorting process flows, Littelfuse has announced the SMBJ-HR and SMBJ-HRA series. Rated for 600W of peak pulse power dissipation, the diodes are suited for DC power protection and ESD protection in avionics applications.
RWM 2014 to feature compressors boasting 50% energy savings
At RWM 2014, Atlas Copco Compressors will be showcasing its full array of energy-efficient compressed air solutions, including the company’s compact GA VSD+ compressor. Launched in 2013, GA VSD+ compressors provide industry-leading energy savings of 50% on average, a 13% leap in Free Air Delivery and a canopy less than half the size of traditional fixed speed compressors.
Microsemi and eInfochips collaborate for aerospace design services
In order to provide DO-254 compliant design services for the aerospace industry, Microsemi and eInfochips have announced their collaboration. Critical avionics systems builders can utilise the immunity to configuration upsets of Microsemi’s FPGA-based products, such as SmartFusion2 and IGLOO2, and the leading design practices deployed by eInfochips to improve design efficiency, reliability and performance.
RFID transponder operates from -50 to +160°C
A RFID transponder suitable for use in harsh environments, has been released by HARTING. Due to its combination of robustness, high protection and resistance to high temperatures, theHa-VIS RFID VT 86 (HT) performs particularly well in harsh environments. The transponder measures41x11x5.15mm, has a memory of 3kB and an operating temperature of-50 to +160°C.
The ultimate in precision and efficiency
Modern Brushless DC (BLDC) motor controllers that are housed in compact assemblies are ideal for integration into systems that require precision control and efficiency. This enabling technology fulfils the requirements of both simple and complex motor systems, while offering significant advantages and improving time to market. By Don Laskay, Data Device Corporation.
Emulation technology extended to cover TI Hercules MCUs
GOEPEL electronics says that the VarioTAP technology for universal processor emulation has been extended to cover Texas Instruments TMS570LSxx Hercules microcontroller family. The processor is reconfigured to provide design-integrated test and programming instruments via the native debug port.
GaN Plastic power modules provide cost advantages
GaN in Plastic power modules, claimed to have advantages over ceramic-packaged flange-mount components, have been released by MACOM.Optimised for pulsed Avionics applications in the 960-1215MHz band, the MAMG-001214-090PSM 2-stage, fully matched GaN surface mount power modules scale to peak pulse power levels of 100W in a 14x24 mm package size.
GaN in plastic module is optimised for avionics
A GaN in Plastic power module has been added to M/A-COM's existing portfolio of GaN in Plastic power module products. The module is optimised for pulsed Avionics applications in the 960 to 1215 MHz band, and scales to peak pulse power levels of 100W in a 14 x 24mm package size.
Frequency system supports latest NTP features
Responding to the recent expansion and availability of global navigation systems and related infrastructure, Aspen Electronics have introduced the SecureSync time & frequency reference system. Incorporating Spectracom’s precision master clock technology and secure network-centric approach, the modular, rugged chassis design has built-in time and frequency functions which can be extended with up to 6 input/output modules.
Circuit breaker for DC power grids investigated
There are many advantages to using direct current rather than the alternating current used today. For example, when using direct current there are 5-7% less losses in power grids and electric devices.Direct current also makes it possible to more efficiently feed electric energy from regenerative sources into power grids and energy storage and therefore it improves grid stability.
