Simplifying image signal processing for sensors
Provider of innovative image and video processing technologies, intoPIX, presented the new TICO-RAW technology at CES, which aims to drastically simplify the way we deal with image sensor video data. Thanks to the technology’s innovative low-complexity processing and coding, the full power of the image sensor is preserved while significantly reducing the transmission bandwidth, power-consumption and storage needs.
C-V2X chipsets validated in record time
Rohde&Schwarz and Autotalks have successfully tested Autotalks’ second generation chipset as the C-V2X UE with the R&SCMW100 communication tester. During the test, multiple test scenarios were verified for transmission and reception of C-V2X direct communications (PC5) based on 3GPP Release 14 using GNSS based synchronisation.
Solutions for battery-free IoT devices
Licensor of signal processing platforms and artificial intelligence processors for smarter, connected devices, CEVA, has announced that Atmosic Technologies (Atmosic), an innovator of ultra-low-power wireless for the Internet of Things (IoT), has integrated CEVA’s RivieraWaves Bluetooth 5 Low Energy (RW-BLE5) IP in its M2 and M3 Series IoT systems-on-chip (SoCs).
AI technology repairs distorted and obscured images in real time
Cambridge Consultants has announced DeepRay, an Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology that creates clear, undistorted views of the real world from a damaged or obscured moving image. Based on recent advances in deep learning, DeepRay’s power to see clearly in difficult, unpredictable situations could transform numerous machine vision and imaging applications, from autonomous driving to empowering healthcare professionals with more accurat...
New levels of realism for autonomous technology simulation
AImotive, the full service autonomous driving technology provider, has released its aiSim2 simulator to significantly upgrade the speed and quality of testing and validating self-driving solutions.Unveiled at SLUSH, aiSim2 is the next generation of the award-winning aiSim, powered by a purpose-built engine that ensures a high level of physical realism, deterministic running alongside optimised hardware utilisation and flexibility.
Partnership to shrink full-colour microLED pixels by 87%
A partnership has been announced between Plessey Semiconductors and Nanoco Technologies to shrink the pixel size of monolithic microLED displays using Nanoco’s cadmium free quantum dot (CFQD quantum dots) semiconductor nanoparticle technology. Using its existing monolithic process, Plessey will integrate the Nanoco CFQD quantum dots into selected regions of blue LED wafers to add red and green light.
Cyber security standards for enterprise-grade mobile apps
The not-for profit membership organisation Secure Chorus has announced the completion of its first set of interoperability standards for regulatory-compliant encrypted voice calls. The move will lead the way to the commercial rollout of an ecosystem of different brand mobile apps for enterprise.
The biggest themes to emerge from electronica 2018
This year’s electronica lived up to its slogan of 'connecting everything - smart, safe and secure'. This is evidenced in the three main technologies on display at the show: as Artificial Intelligence (AI), home automation systems and medical electronics. Michele Windsor, Global Marketing Manager of Ultralife, explores these growing trends in the electronics industry.
The shifting landscape of the factory floor
The factory floor is changing. From what has traditionally been a mechanically focussed environment, electrification and electronics are playing an increasingly vital role, being led by the drive towards factory automation and Industry 4.0.
Keeping up-to-date with Europe’s medical device regulation
The introduction of the EU’s new Medical Device Regulation began a three-year transition period that expires on May 26, 2020. Manufacturers need to be sure they understand the requirements of the new regulation to ensure continued compliance.
