Energy tubes withstand very high temperatures
A high-temperature option has been added to igus' R4.1L series of enclosed energy tubes that can withstand short-term contact with hot chips up to 850°C. Developed specifically for use in equipment, such as welding and plasma-cutting machines, the lids of the chain are made of igumid HT. This special high-temperature material ensures that the searing debris will not stick to the tubes or burn into the material.
Sentinel Cerebral Protection System receives FDA Clearance
Claret Medicalhas announced that it has receivedregulatory clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the SentinelCerebral Protection System (CPS), via de novo classification, enabling U.S. commercialisation ofthe device. The Sentinel is the first and only device available in the U.S. that offers protectionagainst the risk of stroke by capturing and removing debris dislodged during transcatheteraortic valve replacement (TAVR) ...

"eRamp" strengthens Germany and Europe in power electronics
One of the most important European research projects for energy efficiency, “eRamp”, is coming to a close. Over the past three years, 26 partners from business and science have explored innovative electronics components for using energy even more efficiently. Their focus was on the rapid introduction of new production technologies, such as packaging technologies for energy-saving chips. The eRamp project covered the entire power elect...
Hygienic design energy chains are easy to clean
The new hygienic design energy chain, called the TH3 series has been introduced by igus, and has been developed for use on machines in the food and beverage processing and packaging industries. Its open design, which received a Red Dot Award: Product Design 2017, makes it very easy to clean, while rounded corners and simple, threadless connections prevent dead spaces where debris and germs can build-up.
Technology speeds up 3D printing
A technology originally developed to smooth out and pattern high-powered laser beams for the National Ignition Facility (NIF) can be used to 3D print metal objects faster than ever before, according to a new study by Lawrence Livermore researchers.A team of Lab scientists report the findings in the latest issue ofOptics Express.
Automated finishing gets right to the point
Weapons manufactured by London firm, Leon Paul Equipment are used by many fencers around the world, including winners at last year’s Olympic Games in Rio.What many of them may not realise is the level of expertise that goes into ensuring that the foils, epees and sabres are finished to a very high standard. To this end, a focus on deburring and surface treatment has seen two more vibratory machines installed in the factory by Bletchley-base...
