Step-Down Regulators Evolution: R-78C Series - PTM Preview
This module, provided by Digi-Key and Recom Power, has been created to help explain the benefits that a modular switching voltage regulator offers against linear regulators and discrete switching solution.
Low-Noise GaAs HEMT for 12 – 20GHz range
Mitsubishi has introduced the MGF4921AM, a low noise GaAs HEMT (High Electron Mobility Transistor) that is highly suitable for low noise amplifiers in satellite digital radio receivers as well as in DBS (direct broadcast satellite) receivers operating in the C band. The new device works from S to C bands with a typical noise figure of just 0.35dB at 2.4 or 4GHz, which is at the leading edge of the industry. At 2.4GHz it provides a gain of 18.0dB.

Ecliptek Adds Crystal and Oscillator Recommendation Reference Index for Chipsets and Semiconductors
Ecliptek Corporation has introduced its latest web based engineering tool, an indexed directory correlating chipsets to suggested Ecliptek frequency control products. This comprehensive chipset reference index addresses a need identified by design engineers for specific crystal or oscillator recommendations based on parameters pertaining to a manufacturer's chipset number.
LPC11D00 and LPC12D00 drive high-contrast LCD displays at a compelling price point
NXP Semiconductors introduced the LPC11D00 and LPC12D00 series of microcontrollers – the first ARM Cortex M0 microcontrollers with integrated segment LCD drivers, enabling high contrast and brightness in a single chip. Featuring the NXP PCF8576D LCD driver, the LPC11D00 and LPC12D00 are capable of driving any static or multiplexed Liquid Crystal Displays containing up to 4 backplanes and 40 segments, and can be easily cascaded with multiple seg...
Low-Voltage Step-Down Regulator Saves Space in Compact Applications
Maxim has introduced the MAX17083, a low-voltage, step-down regulator with an internal boost switch. Designed for space-constrained applications, this device integrates dual n-channel MOSFET power switches in a small, 16mm2 TQFN package. Easily supporting a continuous load current up to 5A, the internal 25milliohm, low-side power MOSFETs ensure high efficiency while reducing component count.
Sleek Networks' decision to choose an advanced modular UPS pays dividends, now and in the future
When hosting company Sleek Networks created a new Tier III data centre in late 2009, it chose Leeds, West Yorkshire, as its base - proactively advocating that London is not the only place to source quality hosting. For its fast-growing business, it based critical power protection on the PowerWAVE 9000DPA from Uninterruptible Power Supplies Limited (UPSL) – an advanced system which offers flexible system expansion, in incremental steps. Nick Wil...
Moisture-proof overmoulded VN1015 series digital vane sensors from ZF Electronics are magnetically-operated
The new Cherry VN1015 series of digital vane sensors from ZF Electronics are designed for applications which require robust repeatable sensors immune to moisture and dust. These digital sensors are magnetically operated, so there are no mechanical contacts to wear out, ensuring extra-long product life and reliability. Models in the VN1015 series are available either with 3-pin sink output or with 24 AWG terminations and will cope with operating...
