The NMEA 2000 communications standard is for connecting sensors and displays in ships and boats. All versions are waterproof to IP67 or IP68 with a current rating of 4A and data rating of 8A.
Industrial circular connector offers quick disconnect
Expanding its PT series, Amphenol Industrial Products has announced a quick disconnect circular connector suited for use in the heavy equipment, transportation, diesel engine and EV markets. Based on Amphenol's 26482 series I, the UPT features a plastic shell with a metal coupling system and crimp termination. This lightweight connector has a smaller footprint and is easy to install in the field once it has been crimped in the facility.

USB connectors are impervious to water
A range of waterproof USB connectors from Amphenol LTW Technology has been introduced by Astute Electronics. The range includes USB 3.0 A, 2.0 A and 2.0 B types, plus Mini USB 2.0 B and Micro USB 2.0 AB models. All versions are waterproof to IP67 or IP68 with a current rating of 1.5A. Devices have gold-plated copper alloy contacts and the connector body is made from PBT (polybutylene terephthalate) to UL94V-0 flammability.
Gray ZnNi plating increases harsh environment resistance
Designed for harsh environments, Amphenol Industrial Products Group's standard shell plating has been enhanced from standard cadmium to Gray ZnNi (gray zinc over electroless nickel). This plating was initially designed for use in marine application but is now used in military and industrial applications or where RoHS-compliant plating is required.
