The 5G Automotive Association (5GAA) gets its latest member
The communication infrastructure and stable mobile connectivity is going to be vital to the future of automated cars. Therefore, the introduction of 5G is going to be key. With this in mind Infineon Technologies, a contributor to the introduction of the 5G standard into the car, has recently announced that it has joined the 5G Automotive Association (5GAA). The association works on the introduction of new communication solutions enabling connected...
Sensor collaboration improves ADAS applications
To improve Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) applications and enable autonomous driving vehicles, Analog Devices and Renesas Electronics have announced they are collaborating on a system-level 77/79GHz RADAR sensor demonstrator. The new demonstrator combines two technologies that include the RH850/V1R-M microcontroller (MCU) from the Renesas autonomy platform and ADI’s Drive360 advanced 28nm CMOS RF-to-bits technology.
UK consortium to focus on automotive security
As part of the national strategy to establish the UK as a global centre for the development, testing and commercialisation of connected autonomous vehicles, Greg Clark MP, Secretary of State for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy, has today given the green light to 5*StarS.
The future of electricity
In the UK, the majority of electricity comes from large, centralised power plants. Although this approach enables economies of scale in the energy sector, it means that customers, particularly those within inner cities depend on long-distance transmission to receive power. Here Nick Boughton, Sales Manager at Industrial Systems Integrator, Boulting Technology discusses how businesses need to adapt to keep up with increased energy demands.
From machine component to information manager
In the discussion about the intelligent factories, many small and medium-sized machine and plant manufacturers are unsure how to best approach Industry 4.0, says Christian Zingg, director of Innovation & Global Machine Building, at Eaton
ADAS platform provides new capabilities for smart cameras
A new Advanced Driving Assistance Systems (ADAS) and automated driving platform has been launched by Renesas Electronics: Renesas autonomy. As the first rollout under its Renesas autonomy platform, Renesas released the R-Car V3M high-performance image recognition System-on-Chip (SoC) optimised primarily for use in smart camera applications, as well as surround view systems or even lidars.
Intel drives innovation in the autonomous driving markets
This year at embedded world Intel were there to show how scalability and security help customers take advantage of growth opportunities. Guest blog byIntel’s Riccardo Mariani.
