Steering robot for vehicle testing uses custom motor
A brushless DC motor has been designed by Printed Motor Works for use in dynamic vehicle testing. The high power-density motor is part of a steering robot developed by Anthony Best Dynamics. The system helps provide a repeatable test environment for quantitative testing of road vehicles on the track. The compact design of the motor enables the assembly to be mounted behind the steering wheel, allowing normal driver operation between tests.
Multiprotocol functionality for Industry 4.0
A range of Ethernet IO modules have been introduced by Pepperl+Fuchs which support all common Ethernet protocols, such as PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, and EtherCAT, in a single device. The integrated IO-Link master function allows diagnosis and parameterisation.
Data transmission connectors for automotive applications
Available inrobust and space saving automotive housings,Rosenberger has released its H-MTD connectors (High-Speed Modular Twisted-Pair Data) that combine high-performance data transmission up to 15GHz or 20Gbps and small package sizes. Due to its modular design the 360° fully shielded differential connector system enables a wide range of and future automotive applications, e.g. camera systems, high-resolution displays, fond entertainment or a...

AI platform personalises in-car experience
Nuance Communication has announced that its Dragon Drive artificial intelligence (AI) platform for the connected car now features expanded conversational and cognitive capabilities for its Automotive Assistant to provide everyone in the car – drivers and passengers – with the ability to ask for navigation, music, content and other in-car features just by speaking – no wake-up phrase or button press required.
Drones can safely stay in the air for five days
A team of MIT engineers has come up with a much less expensive UAV design that can hover for longer durations to provide wide-ranging communications support. The researchers designed, built, and tested a UAV resembling a thin glider with a 24-foot wingspan. The vehicle can carry 10 to 20 pounds of communications equipment while flying at an altitude of 15,000 feet.
Brushless servo motor delivers on speed and flexibility
The HeiMotionPremium (HMP) brushless AC servo motor family has been introduced by Allied Motion Technologies. HeiMotion is available in five metric frame sizes with rated torque from 0.12-14.4Nm, and continuous shaft power from 50W-3.75kW.
