SoC developer forum to address next-gen embedded computing
Altera has announced the launch of the Altera SoC Developers Forum (ASDF). These inaugural events in Silicon Valley; Frankfurt, Germany; and Shenzhen, China bring together partners, developers and engineers who are focused on using the fine-grained heterogeneous computing technology in ARM-based SoC FPGAs to address next-gen embedded computing applications.
Camera-based assistance system handles inattentive driving
Throughout Europe 25,700 people were killed on the roads last year – an average of 70 traffic fatalities a day. Most of these accidents happened because the motorists weren’t paying attention. A system has been designed to assist the driver and significantly reduce the number of accidents. At the 2015 International Motor Show (IAA), Kostal presents a camera-based ADAS with know-how from Infineon.
Data acquisition software's offline operation is expanded
IPETRONIK has announced that it will provide for download the IPEmotion Release 2015 R2 of its data acquisition software. The company extends the offline data analysis operation with the new version, including the triggered performance of operation sequences, statistic operations for an easy calculation of common statistic values such as min, max, average value, RMS etc. and an operation for searching events, which are able to perform analyses ev...
Custom chip delivers tablet touch to the telly
Development of a custom IC for ZRRO Technologies to help produce an innovative new remote controller that brings tablet and mobile phone-like gaming experiences to users’ televisions was expedited by a team from Arrow Electronics. The Kickstarter-funded project incorporates ZRRO’s zTOUCH 3D-sensing technology and enables users to interact with their TVs from the couch using a hover-and-touch remote controller with the sensing capabili...
System on module simplifies IoT design
An exclusive System on Module (SoM) that helps engineers exploit the new ARM-powered Freescale QorIQ LS1021A communication processor has been unveiled by Arrow Electronics, together with two associated carrier boards that give a choice of platforms for application development. Arrow developed the ECUcore-1021 SoM and boards together with Freescale and automation technology systems specialist SYS TEC electronic.
Strange magnetic behaviour has quantum computing potential
An exotic kind of magnetic behavior, driven by the mere proximity of two materials, has been analysed by a team of researchers at MIT and elsewhere, using a technique called spin-polarised neutron reflectometry. They say the finding could be used to probe a variety of exotic physical phenomena, and could ultimately be used to produce key components of future quantum computers.
Snapdragon development board covers host of applications
DragonBoard 410c, a low-cost development board design based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor is on sale at Arrow Electronics. Arrow will manufacture and distribute the DragonBoard 410c to community developers and commercial customers. The credit card-sized kit is based on Linaro’s 96Boards specification and enables developers, makers, universities and commercial manufacturers to use the Snapdragon 410 processor for things such as ne...
Open-source board based on i.MX7 microprocessor
An open-source, specification-compliant board that is based on the new Freescale i.MX 7 microprocessor was announced at the Freescale Technology Forum by Arrow Electronics. Arrow also collaborated with Qualcomm Atheros, a subsidiary of Qualcomm on the board’s Bluetooth & Wi-Fi capabilities and with Linear Technologies on the board’s power supply.
Make motors easy to connect
Murrelektronik's power connectors (M12, M15 and M23) make motors easy to connect. The M12 power connector is the most compact and powerful 5 pole M12 connector on the market. The M15 power standard connection technology of the MQ15-X-Power connector enables extremely quick assembly. Murrelektronik's M23 connectors are an established standard solution to connect servo motors.
