These ultra low-power microcontrollers combine the exceptional energy efficiency and ease-of-use of the ARM Cortex-M0+ core with the performance, peripheral sets, enablement, and scalability of the Kinetis 32-bit microcontroller portfolio.
The Quantum Revolution is coming!
The second CW (Cambridge Wireless) Technology and Engineering Conference (CW TEC) will bring together leaders in the world of Quantum 2.0 to unravel this new field of science and engineering and look at how it could change the face of industry.
Kinetis software supports HomeKit for home automation applications
NXP Semiconductors has announced that its Software Development Kit (SDK) for Kinetis MCUs offers support for home automation applications using Apple HomeKit technology. Leveraging the outstanding performance and advanced Bluetooth Smart connectivity of NXP’s Kinetis products, the solution streamlines development for a wide range of HomeKit compatible products.
The internet of vulnerable things
Every year in Louisville, Kentucky, hackers and security experts gather for DerbyCon. While a get-together of hackers may sound troubling on its own, what’s truly disturbing is what came out of last year’s conference. Medical cyber crime is on the rise, and there are thousands of critical medical devices which can currently be located online and hacked directly. By Rob Phillips, sales and marketing director of Accutronics.

Quantum communication system to secure data exchange
A group of scientists from ITMO University, in Saint Petersburg, has developed a novel approach to the construction of quantum communication systems for secure data exchange. The experimental device based on the results of the research is capable of transmitting single-photon quantum signals across distances of 250 kilometers or more, which is on par with other cutting edge analogues. The research paper was published in the Optics Express journal...
Protected Majorana states for quantum information
Quantum technology has the potential to revolutionise computation, cryptography and simulation of quantum systems. However, quantum physics places a new demand on information processing hardware: quantum states are fragile, and so must be controlled without being measured. Researchers at the Niels Bohr Institute have now demonstrated a key property of Majorana zero modes that protects them from decoherence.
Connected car security takes centre stage
On 23rd March, the Third Annual Automotive Cyber Security Summit will take place at The Baronette Renaissance Detroit-Novi Hotel. The event will see Brian M Sutton, Embedded Systems Engineering Lead at Microsemi, share his expertise in a presentation titled, ‘Connected Car Security: How Much is Enough?’
NXP’s NTAG I2C plus extends the family of connected NFC tags
Designed to be the 'perfect' enabler for NFC in home-automation and consumer applications, this feature-packed, next-gen connected NFC tag is the fastest, most BOM optimised way to add 'tap-and-connect' communications to any electronic device.
