Silicon Labs launches industry's most flexible and developer-friendly 32-bit mixed-signal MCUs
Bringing unprecedented design flexibility to the 32-bit market, Silicon Laboratories Inc. today introduced the Precision32 microcontroller (MCU) family. Based on the ARM Cortex-M3 processor, the new Precision32 family includes 32 SiM3U1xx and SiM3C1xx MCU products with footprint-compatible USB and non-USB options
AnalogicTech Launches Small, Quiet, Serial, Step-Up LED Backlight Drivers
Advanced Analogic Technologies, Inc. today introduced the AAT14XX family of 31 mA step-up single-channel light-emitting diode (LED) drivers capable of driving up to 10 LEDs in a single string. The drivers’ small size and quiet operation make them ideal LED backlight solutions for single cell Lithium-ion battery-based equipment, including mobile and smart phones, MP3 players, portable media players (PMPs) and portable navigation device-type appl...
Lighting management unit reduces smart phone design time
Given the complexity and diversity of feature sets found in today’s cell phone product lines, designers can gain tremendous advantage in terms of design time and cost by using the same power management solution in multiple products. By delivering industry-standard I2C programmability across nine different LED combinations and I2C control across 16 different voltage settings for each LDO, AnalogicTech’s AAT2862 provides the level of versatili...
AnalogicTech introduces two high-performance charge pump products
AnalogicTech has introduced two high-performance charge pump products that enable designers to build dramatically smaller, more feature-rich mobile handsets. The AAT2846 and AAT2856 combine backlight drivers, high-current flash drivers and two general purpose low-dropout (LDOs) linear regulators in a single 4x4mm package.
WLED drivers from AnalogicTech
AnalogicTech has introduced the AAT2848, a trimode charge pump driver IC for white LED (WLED) backlight display and flash applications. By integrating four backlight channels capable of driving up to 30mA each with two flash channels capable of driving up to 300mA each, or 600mA in parallel, in a small 3mm x 3mm TQFN33-20 package, the device offers mid-range camera phone designers a highly attractive space-saving solution.
2A flash driver IC capable of delivering high-intensity WLED lighting for camera phones from AnalogicTech
The AAT1282 from AnalogicTech is said to be the industry’s first 2A flash LED driver IC capable of delivering high intensity light from white LEDs (WLEDs). Combining a high frequency boost converter with fixed input current limiting, dual output regulated current sinks and I2C control, the device uses a supercapacitor to deliver the high peak current needed to support the high intensity flash required for mobile phones featuring cameras with...
Current-sourced WLED drivers address lighting needs of entry-level cell phone market
AnalogicTech has introduced the AAT3102 and AAT3103 constant frequency, charge-pump-based, current source white LED (WLED) drivers. Designed to backlight lower-cost LCD displays in entry-level and reduced feature set cell phones, the two new devices help reduce system costs by using a small 2x2.1-mm package while requiring only two external components.
Integrated RGB controllers simplify design of diode sequencing for portable systems
To generate the three colours in an RGB LED, designers would typically need to use three separate MOSFETs, all the associated interface circuitry, and three GPIO pins on the system processor to drive the RGB LED. With AnalogicTech’s AAT4295 and AAT4297, designers can now support up to two RGB LEDs while eliminating the need for discrete MOSFETs and save the GPIO lines for other system functions.
LED traffic light bulbs save costs in many areas and reduce maintenance
Meeting the growing demand for reduced power consumption, Sirena LED lamps for traffic lights are available from specialist distributor Switchtec. Importantly, the lamps retrofit into the thousands of traffic lights already in service.
