Murata improves acoustic characteristics of world’s thinnest piezoelectric speaker
Murata has announced it has enhanced the audio characteristics of its ultra thin piezoelectric speaker. Measuring just 0.5 mm in thickness, the VSLBP2115E1100 series is believed to be the world’s smallest piezoelectric speaker. By optimizing the product’s structure and the use of new materials it has been possible to reduce distortion and increase sound pressure level without any change in the speaker’s size. Distortion has been reduced by ...
Murata - Small footprint, low profile wirewound power inductors
Murata has released two additions to its LQH series of wirewound power inductors that feature low profile, improved current saturation and low DC resistance. Both parts also feature full shielding to reduce magnetic flux leakage in order to enable low DC resistance and high inductance. These power inductors are ideal for power circuitry in audio-visual equipment including televisions, DVD players, etc. and a variety of other applications.
Murata reduces the size of its AMR magnetic switches
Murata has reduced the size of its AMR magnetic switches, saving space and cost in consumer electronics applications. AMR (Anisotropic Magneto Resistance) magnetic switches are primarily used for open/close detection in home appliances such as white goods and security equipment as well as other consumer electronics devices like mobile phones, laptop PCs, digital cameras etc.
Murata's latest series of chip inductors replaces wire-wound inductors to reduce size and cost of DC-DC power supplies
Murata's latest series of chip inductor is designed to replace wound inductors in DC-DC converter applications, reducing the footprint of power supply designs by replacing larger inductors without compromising performance. The LQH6PP_43 series can also help to reduce cost, since chip inductors' simple structure means they can be constructed more cost efficiently than traditional wire-wound power inductors, leading to reduced bill of materials cos...
Murata's ultra-thin rectangular piezo speakers replay music and voice with flat frequency response
The latest addition to Murata's family of piezoelectric ceramic speakers is ultra-thin, just 1.2mm in thickness, with side ventilation in its sturdy metal housing helping to keep the thickness down. The VSLBP1913E series' unique rectangular shape improves its frequency response and minimises 'dead-space' in handheld devices. The series' flat frequency response makes it suitable for the replay of voice and music in today's thin and stylish mobile ...
Murata announces mass production of world’s thinnest waterproof piezoelectric speaker
Murata today announced it has commenced mass production of the ultra thin VSLBG2216E waterproof piezoelectric speaker. With a thickness of just 0.9 mm it is believed to be the world’s thinnest IPX7 speaker. Designed for consumer electronics applications, it is unlike other similar devices in that it does not require any additional waterproof membrane to be applied during end-product manufacture.
New Picor Cool-Power PI3106 isolated DC-DC converters deliver breakthrough density for industrial and military applications
Vicor announces its new Picor Cool-Power PI3106 isolated DC-DC converter, delivering 50W of output power (12V output at 4.2 Amps) in a tightly-integrated 22 x 16.5 x 6.7 mm, surface mount package offering unprecedented power density of 20.4 W/cm3. Combining isolation, voltage transformation and output regulation in a form factor less than half the size of a conventional isolated 1/16th brick and available in a wide 28V military input voltage rang...
Coupled inductors for step-down DC-DC voltage regulators
Focus EDL has introduced what is claims to be the industry’s first family of coupled inductors for non-isolated step-down DC-DC voltage regulators. According to Focus EDL, these bring a faster transient response, lower ripple current per phase and increased system efficiency.
Cherry miniature switches and sensors provide automated operation for valve actuation
Cherry Electrical Products has released an application note giving details of its miniature switches and sensors for operating automated valves in inaccessible or remote locations or when the use of manual handwheels presents practical difficulties. Valves are often operated by a manual handwheel, but there are many circumstances when this is impossible – for example, when the size or differential of a valve means the handwheel pull is beyon...
Power Integrations New HiperLCS High-Frequency LLC Converter IC Family Maximizes Power Supply Efficiency, Minimizes Footprint
Power Integrations introduced HiperLCS, a family of high-voltage LLC power supply ICs that incorporate the controller, high- and low-side drivers, and both MOSFETs into a single low-cost package. Highly integrated HiperLCS ICs offer the flexibility to optimize designs either for high efficiency – with a maximum efficiency of better than 97% – or for size, by leveraging high-frequency operation (up to 750 kHz) to minimize transformer size and ...
