Packaging holds the key for emerging technologies
Vicor believes its Power on Packaging technology will help power system designers meet processing and power needs and anticipate the next power requirements.
Exploring the behaviours of AI systems in autonomous driving
Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) and TÜV SÜD are launching a joint project to certify systems based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) used in autonomous driving and develop a ‘road worthiness test’ for algorithms. To do so, the experts will explore the learning behaviours of AI systems with the aim of being able to control the systems reactions. The main objective is to develop an open platform, known as &lsq...
Cesium atomic clock portfolio compliant with ITU standards
Microsemi has announced completion of certification of its portfolio of cesium clocks to be compliant with the new G.811.1 recommendation (known as enhanced Primary Reference Clocks, or ePRC) from the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) for timing characteristics of enhanced primary reference clocks. This new standard raises the bar for frequency accuracy by an order of magnitude from 1x10E-11 to 1x10E-12.
Power alliance anticipates increase in 48V demand
An alliance formed by Artesyn Embedded Technologies, Bel Power Solutions, Flex and STMicroelectronics defines an industry standard for 48Vin to low voltage, high current DC/DC applications. Demand for such conversion is expected to increase as internet data traffic increases with the advent of increased automation in the home and at work, as well as the data traffic required for autonomous vehicles, says Flex.
Human-robot interaction unlocks potential of service robotics
Together graphics displays, artificial intelligence and sensors, enable advances in human-robot interaction and are ushering in a new generation of service robots that are easy to programme and intuitive to use.In Munich, from 19-22nd June, 2018,automaticawill demonstrate how products and systems - from flexible, collaborative robot tools to smart warehouses and humanoids - place people at the heart of their design, enabling not only better assis...
Redefining Point of Load regulation for demanding XPUs
With previous unattainable performance levels for high current applications Vicor technology has developed Artificial Intelligence (AI) processors and 48V autonomous driving systems.High performance computers and large scale datacenters will be taken to the next level by Vicor modules delivering hundreds of amps of steady power.
Calling all power DDS users to the Industrial IoT Connext Conference
Due to continued demand for information about designing smarter and more secure systems that connect the IIoT,Real-Time Innovations (RTI)is bringing its fourth annual EMEA Connext Conference to Munich. Users, developers and industry partners learn the latest in technical information and developer experiences in building real world IIoT systems.
The arrival of self-driving cars with sensor fusion and processing
At Siemens US Innovation Day in Chicago, Siemens introduced abreakthrough solution for the development of autonomous driving systems. Thesolution, part of the Simcenter portfolio, minimises the need for extensive physicalprototyping while dramatically reducing the number of logged test miles necessaryto demonstrate the safety of autonomous vehicles.
Nissan LEAF charges ahead with five star results in safety tests
Euro NCAP continues to set the agenda with new, more demanding challenges on safety technology to help protect vulnerable road users, including the introduction of the first cycling detection test for AEB.The five star result for the new Nissan LEAFrecently published echoes the success of the original LEAF introduced in 2011 - the first all-electric car rated five stars by Euro NCAP.
IoT gets redefined…again
The word everyone loves and cannot get enough of… IoT! The continuously discussed term Internet of Things is getting redefined again. The promise of workload consolidation at the edge and things levels is disrupting the role of cloud in IoT. How did we get here? Guest blog from Wind River.
