Nomor Research builds 5G simulator for 5G-PPP initiative
Nomor Research has announced its involvement in the 5G Novel Radio Multiservice adaptive network Architecture (5G NORMA), part of the 5G-PPP initiative. Besides research work with its 5G system level simulator, the company will develop a 5G software prototype based on its Real-time Network Simulator, RealNeS. Furthermore, Nomor will contribute software modules to an end-to-end hardware demonstrator that will be developed in collaboration with Azc...
Plasma systems for wafer-level and 3D packaging applications
Nordson MARCH announces its recent SPHERE series plasma systems for wafer-level and 3D packaging applications. Based on Nordson MARCH's TRAK Series, the series consists of the TrophoSPHERE and StratoSPHERE plasma treatment systems. The systems perform descum, ashing (photoresist/polymer stripping), dielectric etch, wafer bumping, organic contamination removal and wafer destress.
Ideas are bubbling for more efficient computer memory
Researchers at UCLA and the U.S. Department of Energy’s Argonne National Laboratory have announced a new method for creating magnetic skyrmion bubbles at room temperature. The bubbles, a physics phenomenon thought to be an option for more energy-efficient and compact electronics, can be created with easy-to-use equipment and common materials.
Thermal management comparison puts Cambridge on top
Cambridge Nanotherm has published results of a round of testing of several thermal PCB materials intended for use in LEDs, including its Nanoceramic thermal management substrates. The tests were conducted by The LIA Laboratories and showed Cambridge Nanotherm’s thermal management technology outperforming all the thermal management substrates tested in terms of its thermal conductivity.
Load simulator designed to test LED power drivers
An extensive range of equipment for testing LED drivers is now available from MDL Technologies. The Chroma instruments include programmable AC and DC sources, high precision power meters and an LED load simulator specifically designed for LED power drivers. The 61500 Series advanced programmable AC power sources have output powers ranging from 500 to 2000 VA and offer AC, DC and AC+DC output modes.
3D printer filament produced from waste plastic
3D printing was one of the hottest tech trends of 2014 and, according to industry analysts, will rise over the next year. D3D Innovations has released a next-gen machine that allows users to produce 3D Printer ‘ink’ on demand. Quick, eco-friendly and cost effective, FilaFab Plastic Extruders address demand from hobbyists, educational institutes, polymer laboratories, engineers, architects and workshops.
LED source provides sensor with self-absorption correction
Designed for optical power measurement, the 3A-IS Optical Power Sensor and AUX-LED Self-Absorption Accessory have been released by Ophir Photonics. The 3A-IS is an integrated sphere and photodiode sensor system which can measure the optical power of divergent, narrowband light sources from 350 to 1100nm, such as lasers and LEDs. The AUX-LED is a current regulated LED source which corrects the effects of self-absorption.
