CES 2016 – what will be the hot topics next year?
January’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES), which will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada, will offer attendees a glimpse at the immediate digital future. So, what will be the key focus areas at next year’s event?
Large Diameter Spherical Mirrors
Optical Surfaces high precision, large diameter spherical mirrors are used in a widevariety of applications including Schlieren imaging, wind tunnels, observatory spectrographs, bubble chambers and to test hyperboloids (as Hindle spheres).
FIC 2016 Exhibition: data security & protection of privacy
As part of the dynamic of the government's national strategy on digital security and at the dawn of the European regulation on the protection of private data, the FIC will take place in Lille on the 25th and 26th ofJanuary next year (France).
Website is an excellent source for soldering info
Solder specialist NeVo has announced the launch of a online site atwww.nevo-solder.com. The new site details the wide range of solder products and services the company offers, as well as datasheets, applications guides and white papers.
Luminaire mounting sphere manages heat effectively
LED luminaires provide high energy conversion efficiency. Nonetheless, heat is produced by their electrical ballasts. This heat causes changes to the LED’s luminous flux, spectrum, and colour, even reducing lifespan. Therefore, this heat has to be diverted efficiently. Heat management of a luminaire can be influenced by the orientation of its socket depending on if it is pointing upwards, downwards or in a horizontal direction.
Studying hypervelocity impact phenomena
Using a Specialised Imaging SIM8 ultra fast framing camera researchers at the Thiot Ingenierie Shock Physics Laboratory have been able study high velocity impacts of aluminium spheres against an aluminum target at velocities in excess of 4000m/s. Interest in hypervelocity has traditionally been driven by the military community but is increasingly of interest to the space / aerospace industry for areas of research such as enhancing the survivabili...
A flesh approach to making gaming characters more lifelike
A new technique will capture the subtle deformations in human skin and translate them into more realistic computer characters.
Plasma treatment system expands up to six chambers
Nordson MARCH announces that its StratoSPHERE Series plasma treatment equipment for wafer-level packaging and 3D packaging applications can now be configured in two, four, and even six chamber configurations for increased throughput and flexibility.
Piezo Ceramic Discs are the "Heart" of the Sensors
Automated industrial production of industrial goods in the highest quality would not be conceivable without ultrasonic sensors. They are indispensable in automation and among other things, are used for measuring distance and filling levels, for attendance monitoring or level adjustment. They check the gap between objects and therefore supply state variables for control. Therefore, the transducers are always the most important components in an ult...
Strange magnetic behaviour has quantum computing potential
An exotic kind of magnetic behavior, driven by the mere proximity of two materials, has been analysed by a team of researchers at MIT and elsewhere, using a technique called spin-polarised neutron reflectometry. They say the finding could be used to probe a variety of exotic physical phenomena, and could ultimately be used to produce key components of future quantum computers.
