FET packs power into a small footprint for wireless transfer
The EPC2039 is compact and competitively priced for wireless power transfer and other high frequency applications, says Efficient Power Conversion (EPC).
600V power MOSFETs "approach perfect switching performance"
STMicroelectronics has extended its popularMDmesh M2 seriesof N-channel powerMOSFETswith a family of devices that offer the industry’s highest power efficiencies for servers, laptops, telecomms and consumer applications, especially under light-load conditions. With these devices, designers can create switching power conversion solutions that are lighter and more compact, while more easily meeting increasingly stringent energy-efficiency tar...
Minimising the impact of source resistance on high-voltage DC/DC converters
Resistance between a low-voltage power supply and the input terminals of a DC/DC converter results in not only power-loss but reduced long-term reliability in the converter. The impact of source resistance to a converter is measured using EMCO A-series models. Design guidelines are given to minimise reliability impact due to source resistance.
Continuous 225W at natural convection
A series of AC/DC single output open frame converters for in-design in medical type BF applications has been released by Powerbox. The OFM225 is designed for a continuous output power of 225W at natural convection and 40ºC ambient temperature, increasing to 325W continuous at 12 CFM forced air cooling.
Photocouplers integrate ΔΣ ADC for high accuracy
Toshiba Electronics Europe has announced a pair of photocouplers for current sensing and voltage sensing in power converters. They achieve high accuracy through the inclusion of a ΔΣ (Delta Sigma) ADC. The TLP7820 and TLP7920 are analogue output type devices; digital output variants are planned for later this year. Target applications include servo amplifiers, inverters, power sources and photovoltaic inverters.
DC/DC converter series features 10-168W output power
Semiconductor Circuits introduces the Cool Power Technologies chassis mount DC/DC converter series. Industrial applications can present challenges when there is a need to use Board Mount Power (BMP) DC/DC converters. Not all systems have PCB available to mount a thru-hole module. This does not mean however that these applications cannot take advantage of the latest technologies in BMP designs.
DACs bring microwave capabilities
e2v’s next gen DAC, the EV12DS400, brings an advanced combination of microwave capabilities and multi-Nyquist operation and is now ready for general sampling. The EV12DS400 offers the highest levels of spectral purity, coupled with a vast analogue bandwidth, facilitating new ways to architect challenging RF and microwave systems. It provides design versatility and opens up novel and previously unimagined applications.
Salt spray resistance for hermetic glass-to-metal sealed housings
SCHOTT has now developed a special coating through which the industry’s salt spray requirements for hybrid housings can be exceeded. The coating protects glass-to-metal seals against corrosion, even after 24 hour salt spray tests. This improves the reliability of hermetic packages, especially for applications in extremely harsh environments, such as aerospace projects.
Sync buck DC/DC controller enables use of DrMOS
Linear Technology Corporation has announced theLTC3887-1, a dual output synchronous step-down DC/DC controller with I²C-based PMBus interface for digital power system management. The LTC3887-1 differs from the previously released LTC3887 by providing a three-state PWM signal, enabling the use of DrMOS, power blocks or similar power stages.
PMIC targets IoT applications processor
The PF3000 Power Management Integrated Circuit (PMIC) from Freescale Semiconductor is in stock at distributor Mouser Electronics. Developed as a companion device to Freescale’s i.MX 7 series and i.MX 6SoloLite and i.MX 6SoloX series of application processors, the PF3000 is a single-chip power management solution. It is capable of driving the core processor, external memory, and peripherals to help reduce design complexity and cost, while al...
