Buck converter enables efficient, small form-factor designs
Operating from 2.7 to 5.5V inputs to supply loads up to 2A, the AP3402, AP3419 and AP3429 DC/DC step-down converters have been introduced by Diodes Incorporated. A high switching frequency of 1MHz reduces the size of external components which, combined with small TSOT25 or TSOT26 packages, ensures a small circuit board footprint in end-equipment such as TVs, monitors, set-top boxes, routers, notebook PCs and security systems.
Industry's first 80A encapsulated digital POL power module
Intersil has announced the industry’s first 80A fully encapsulated digital DC/DC PMBus power module that provides Point-Of-Load (POL) conversions for advanced FPGAs, DSPs, ASICs, processors and memory. The ISL8273M is a complete step-down regulated power supply that delivers up to 80A output current and operates from industry standard 5 or 12V input power rails.
Evaluation kit speeds up MCU-based prototyping
The C2000 Delfino F28377S LaunchPad evaluation kit from Texas Instruments (TI) is in stock at Mouser Electronics. This new TI LaunchPad is an easy-to-use, rapid-prototyping kit for TI’s C2000 Delfino F2837xS portfolio of microcontrollers and offers 200MHz of 32-bit floating-point performance, newly integrated accelerators, as well as high-integrity analogue and control peripherals.
Plastic connectors for HEVs offer continuous power to 400A
Amphenol Industrial Products Group now offers a plastic power connector series designed to be used in the HEV market. Amphenol's compact Universal Power Connectors (UPC) are available in two sizes and offer continuous power with 200 or 400A.
Light-load algorithm improves DC/DC converter efficiency
Suited for consumer electronics, such as displays, STBs and home audio, the 1.5A AP65101 and 2A AP65201 synchronous DC/DC buck converters have been introduced by Diodes Incorporated. Supplied in a standard pinout, space saving TSOT26 package, the devices achieve maximum continuous current efficiencies up to 97% with improved efficiency at lower loads ensured by an automatic light-load algorithm.
EuMW 2015: Duo collaborate for on-wafer measurement solution
A joint solution for on-wafer measurements on semiconductor components has been developed by MPI and Rohde & Schwarz. The turnkey solution for measurements on semiconductor components in the RF and millimeter wave ranges achieved by a seamless integration of Rohde&Schwarz vector network analysers (VNA) and MPI engineering probe systems was demonstrated at European Microwave Week in Paris.
EuMW 2015: Jitter attenuator targets base stations
A high-performance clock jitter attenuator designed to support the JESD204B serial interface standard for connecting high-speed data converters and field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) operating in base station designs was announced by Analog Devices at European Microwave Week in Paris.
ECOC 2015: Industry leaders demonstrate 400G Ecosystem
Four industry leaders have collaborated to demonstrate the industry’s first commercially available Research & Development platform for testing single-carrier coherent optical communication systems and components operating at 56GBaud and beyond at ECOC 2015 in Valencia, Spain.
Piezo Ceramic Discs are the "Heart" of the Sensors
Automated industrial production of industrial goods in the highest quality would not be conceivable without ultrasonic sensors. They are indispensable in automation and among other things, are used for measuring distance and filling levels, for attendance monitoring or level adjustment. They check the gap between objects and therefore supply state variables for control. Therefore, the transducers are always the most important components in an ult...
MOSFETs offer high efficiency for sychronous rectification
STMicroelectronics has extended its trench-basedSTripFET F7 series of low-voltage MOSFETswith the introduction of 60V devices to enable telecomms, server, and desktop-PC power supplies, as well as industrial power supplies and DC/DC converters in solar micro-inverters, to meet tough energy-efficiency specifications and maximise power density.
