Free IoT seminars focus on sensors and networking
Forecasters say the Internet of Things (IoT) market will be worth between $7trn and $9trn by 2020. That is exciting chip makers and their distributors. Rutronik is keen to promote its activities on behalf of its suppliers and is rolling out a series of one-day seminars which will embrace networking with sensor developments, two technologies driving many developments related to the Internet of Things (IoT).
Node & gateway devices build IoT environments
A series of node and gateway devices, which allows System Integrators to build their own IoT environment, has been released by Advantech. The WISE-3000 devices, which feature WISE-cloud IoT software, provide remote device management, reliable data acquisition and security protection for many IoT applications.
Multi-level cell technology is making Flash memory even more prolific
The use of Flash memory is ubiquitous, but the introduction of multi-level cell technology could make it even more prolific. By Ethan Chen & Precyan Lee, Advantech.
Realising the Smart City
RISC processors, rugged platforms and standardised software solutions are helping manufacturers meet the opportunity of a more connected world. By Aaron Su, Director Embedded Core Group,Advantech.
SBC supplies variety of connectivity options
Advantech’s MIO-2263 Embedded IoT Gateway is available at Mouser Electronics. The MIO‑2263 is a single-board computer (SBC) equipped with either an Intel Celeron or Intel Atom CPU. These embedded Internet of Things (IoT) gateway SBCs feature a 1GbE interface for Ethernet connectivity up to 1,000 Mbps, up to 8GBytes of RAM, multiple I/O and communication interfaces, high-definition audio, and a half-size Mini PCI Express expansion slot.
RISC-based COM EVKs minimise installation time
Designed for RISC-based COM hardware platforms powered by the Freescale ARM Cortex-A9 i.MX6 processor, EVKs have been released by Advantech. The EVKs, which can be used with Qseven, SMARC and RTX 2.0 processors, evaluate function and performance validation, hardware design and application development.
Metrology system analyses semiconductor packaging
Advantest has a new mold thickness metrology system, the TS9000, for measuring the thickness of semiconductor packaging. The system is based on advances in Terahertz (THz) technology pioneered by Advantest. The TS9000 Mold Thickness Analysis (MTA) System is a new metrology tool that performs non-destructive analysis of the thickness of semiconductor packaging.
Arrow Electronics, Advantech to host IoT seminar
An Internet of Things seminar is being staged by Arrow Electronics and Advantech. It is aimed at original equipment manufacturers and provide practical advice on how to take advantage of this new wave of connectivity. In addition to presentations from the hosts, there will be sessions by some of the leading IoT hardware and software vendors including Intel, Wind River and ICT Automatisering.
Serverboards offer 35% power savings for IoT devices
Addressing the growing demand for connected IoT devices, theASMB-923I and ASMB-823I serverboards have been released byAdvantech.Theserverboards, offering improvements in energy efficiency, CPU performance, security and remote manageability, are suitable forpowering industrial servers.
Chassis enables workload sharing and parallel computing
Designed for high-end machine automation applications that require two computers in one piece of equipment,Advantech has introduced theACP-4D00. The4U,dual-nodeindustrial chassis, which has a depth of350mm, enablesworkload sharing and parallel computing. With thedual node architecture, the user caninstall two half-size slot SBCs into two sub-systems and integrate them in a 4U cage.
