When the cloud comes out of the container
In a remarkable first for the IT sector, Rittal and iNNOVO Cloud have come together to create a new and innovative “turnkey cloud data centre in a container” concept. It was showcased at CeBIT 2016 exhibition in Hannover and aims to show how companies can rapidly establish new cloud-based data centres.
Wieland Thermal Solutions at the PowerGen Europe 2016
At the PowerGen Europe 2016 in Milan from 21 to 23rd June, Wieland Thermal Solutions will present in hall 3 on booth HA5 heat transfer solutions for process and machinery and plant technology. Considerable improvements in energy efficiency, a better capacity utilisation and an increasingly compact design can be achieved with enhanced surface tubes, safety tubes and heat exchangers exactly designed to customers’ needs.
Solution brings intelligence to the edge for IoT applications
ADLINK Technology has announced two solutions based on the Intel Xeon Processor E5-2600 Product Family (codename Broadwell-EP). These latest ADLINK offerings are based on 14nm technology-based, server-class Intel processors that bring intelligence to the edge for IoT applications and include an AdvancedTCA processor blade and network appliance from our Modular Industrial Cloud Architecture (MICA) offering.
Mini-MRP solution improves reliability for Aerospace rack systems
Molex, LLC has introduced its Mini-MRP (Modular Rack Principle) System, which improves reliability and reduces failure rates for modular rack systems in aerospace applications and other harsh-environment industries. Unique angled rear insulators eliminate the ingress of dew and water, significantly reducing short circuits, while also simplifying access and delivering the smallest possible PCB footprint.
Variety of ITS enhances safety for vulnerable road users
EU-funded researchers have studied and piloted a variety of ITS to ascertain which will best improve the safety, comfort and mobility for vulnerable road users (VRUs). The EU has a target of halving road fatalities by 2020 and figures released by the European Commission show that there were 26,000 fatalities and 135,000 serious injuries on EU roads in 2015, with a combined cost of around €100 billion (rehabilitation, healthcare, material dam...
Choosing the most suitable IT rack
What should project engineers and technicians consider when planning and installing IT infrastructures? How do they plan the electrical, climate control and security requirements? Rittal looks at answers to key questions that will help identify the right IT rack for your installation.
Modules & accessories for zirconia oxygen sensor
Customisation can be considered as a Pewatron toolbox allowing the customer to put together the best suited oxygen module for any particular application. The oxygen sensors themselves cannot be changed in form, fit or function, but the four sensor types (FCX-ULL, UL, UC and UWC) cover almost the full range of oxygen concentration ranges and as an extra feature it can also work as a humidity sensor.
56MW energy storage project features lithium NMC energy storage system
Kokam has announced that it has successfully deployed two Lithium Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) Oxide Energy Storage Systems (ESSs) - a 24MW system / 9MWh and a 16 MW / 6 MWh system - for frequency regulation on the South Korean electricity grid. The 24 MW system is the largest capacity Lithium NMC ESS used for frequency regulation in the world.
Microsoft tests underwater data centre for more efficient cooling
Microsoft has tested a prototype of a self-contained data centre that can operate hundreds of feet below the surface of the ocean, in efforts to reducing the need for expensive air-conditioning. By Rachel Gordon, Technology Analyst, IDTechEx.
Key points that help ensure successful installation
There are probably five main areas for IT/data centre managers to consider when it comes to planning future rack developments. One of the most critical is deciding the precise configuration of the internal components. This critical step typically underpins the success of the whole project, especially when IT racks are not installed in a standardised data centre environment.
