PCIM Europe 2020 - virtually the same show
Covid-19 has put a stop to many events this year, but PCIM Europe continues in a virtual form, with the conference and exhibition accessible via a virtual platform over two days (Tuesday 7th and Wednesday 8th July). Here is a guide to what is available from exhibitors and conference speakers.
KI-PREDICT to use distributed AI in sensor-based process
KI-PREDICT, a project funded by the BMBF, aims to use artificial intelligence (AI) at various levels of the manufacturing process to enable condition-based, predictive maintenance for factory equipment and to monitor product quality on the fly during production.
Quantum integrated circuit with quantum dot on CMOS Chip
Leti, an institute of CEA, has created a quantum integrated circuit that demonstrates the possibility of integrating conventional electronic devices and elements with quantum dots on a CMOS chip.
COVID-19: Suppliers report supply and delivery issues
Component suppliers have been delivering regular updates to customers on the impact of COVID-19. Some are reporting plant closures and delivery problems, though it is clear all are striving to keep customers supplied as best as possible.
Expanded Thailand facility to support high growth markets
Sanmina has announced its expanded Thailand facility. Augmenting its existing mission critical products, the site now has advanced custom packaging and assembly capabilities to manufacture advanced optical, high speed and radio frequency (RF) microelectronic assemblies and products. This expansion supports rapid growth for new technology products across the networking, 5G, data centre, automotive/LIDAR and aerospace and defence markets.
Portable electronics on and in the body
Printed electronics is revolutionising medicine. LOPEC will present new developments from this area from March 24th to 26th, 2020. Here you can read an interview with LOPEC plenary speaker John A. Rogers, about monitoring systems and other flexible electronic devices that can be worn directly on the skin or implanted inside the body.
Radiation-qualified devices enable Ethernet in space
Ethernet is becoming more common in spacecraft to enable hardwired communication speed, support higher data rates, and facilitate interoperability between satellites and other spacecraft. As Ethernet in space applications continues to expand, Microchip Technology has announced a space-qualified Ethernet transceiver.
Bidirectional sensor handles extremely low pressures
A bidirectional differential pressure sensor for ultra-low pressures has been introduced by Analog Microelectronics expanding the company’s digital board-level pressure sensor series AMS 5915 with I2C output. The AMS 5915-0002-D-B allows the precise measurement of extremely low differential pressure in a pressure range from -250 Pa (-2.5 mbar) vacuum up to 250 Pa (2.5 mbar) overpressure.
