Inverting DC/DC controller offers efficiencies up to 96%
Driving an all N-channel synchronous power MOSFET stage, the LTC3896 high voltage inverting switching regulator controller has been unveiled by Linear Technology. Most low to medium power inverting DC/DC converters utilise a coupled inductor or transformer. However, the LTC3896 uses only a single inductor and converts a 4V to 150V positive input voltage to a regulated negative output voltage from -60 to -0.8V at output currents up to 15A.
DC/DC converters deliver 3W in SIP4 package
The latest RECOM RI3 series isolated DC/DC converters, now available from Dengrove Electronic Components, pack a 3W punch in the same compact SIP4 outline as the 2W RI2 series. The 11.5mm x 7.55mm x 10.2mm modules deliver excellent power density for demanding applications such as communication equipment, industrial automation, robotic systems and distributed power architectures.
EMC filter offers exceptional differential mode performance
TDK-Lambda has announced the introduction of the iDQ series of 10A, 48VDC nominal EMC filter modules. With high on-board capacitance, the filters are suited for use with DC/DC converters, minimising the need for external components and thus saving PCB space. Rated for a maximum voltage of 75VDC, the iDQ has a differential mode attenuation of 63dB at 300kHz measured with a 50Ω source and load impedance.
COTS ADCs for defence applications
Aimed at military, airborne and aerospace applications, DATEL has announced the introduction of its ADS-429 Series - a new line of multi-channel analogue-to-digital converters that offer 12-bit resolution and are housed in a 16-pin plastic TSSOP package.
Common mode chokes for single- and 3-phase applications
The range of current compensated chokes from Schurter has been expanded with high current types for PCB mounting. The new DKIH series is now available with a nanocrystalline ring core, offering eight times higher inductance performance than ferrite core versions in the same compact dimension.
Primary switched DC/DC converters suit railway vehicles
MTM Power's PMDS/PCMDS30 series ofprimary switched DC/DC converters has been especially designed as a decentralised power supply for railway vehicles and industrial applications. These converters operate according to the current source push-pull principle and work with a frequency of 70/140kHz.
Miniature 2W DC/DC converter meets medical safety standards
Murata Power Solutions has announced the MTC2 series of 2W single output, regulated and isolated DC/DC converters. Available with either a 12 or 24VDC 2:1 input voltage range and output voltages of 3.3, 5 or 12VDC, the surface mount MTC2 has a 3kVAC input to output isolation.
15W RF power amplifier module suits VHF transmitters
NuWaves Engineering has announced the release of an upgraded broadband RF power amplifier (PA) for VHF to S-band transmitters and data radios, the NuPower 11C01A model, featuring high power efficiency and multi-octave operation in a compact package.
Bespoke high-voltage power modules target laboratory equipment
Bespoke high-voltage power solutions for UK and European customers seeking to develop highly miniaturised scientific equipment, such as mass spectrometers for use in laboratories and medical centres have been introduced by Luso Electronics. Through its partnership with US-based HVM Technology, Luso already distributes standard and customised military grade high-voltage power converters and compact power supplies for night vision applications.
250W DC/DC converters have a wide 3.3 to 24V output adjustment range
TDK Corporation announces the introduction of the i6A series of 250W DC/DC converters, featuring a wide 3.3V to 24V output adjustment range. The non-isolated i6A series can deliver up to 14A output current and will operate over a 9 to 40V input range. Power density is 427W/in3 packaged in the industry standard 1/16th brick form factor.
