Littelfuse and Monolith demonstrate semiconductor at APEC 2017
Littelfuse and Monolith Semiconductor have announced demonstrations and other activities planned for their booth (#536) at the Applied Power Electronics Conference & Exposition (APEC 2017), March 26-30, 2017. The theme for their display this year is “Making SiC Mainstream—Defined by Customers. Developed by Monolith. Delivered by Littelfuse.”
Automotive dual MOSFETs minimise power losses
Diodes Incorporated has introduced the DMNH4015SSDQ and DMTH6016LSDQ. Featuring low figure-of-merit on-resistance and gate charge specifications, these latest 40V and 60V dual, co-packaged enhancement mode MOSFETs minimize power losses, enabling cost-effective, high-efficiency, automotive-compliant power management solutions.
Steckel mill stand provides 1.3 million tonnes a year
An order has been placed with SMS group by Shandong Iron & Steel Group Rizhao (Shandong Rizhao), for the suppky of a Steckel/plate mill. The new plant, to be built in Rizhao in the Chinese province of Shandong, is scheduled to go on stream in 2019. The order comprises the complete engineering package, mechanical key equipment, all electrical and automation systems as well as process know-how.
Earth oxide coatings develop water-repelling properties
Surfaces that have been coated with rare earth oxides develop water-repelling properties only after contact with air. Even at room temperature, chemical reactions begin with hydrocarbons in the air. In the journal Scientific Reports, researchers from the University of Basel, the Swiss Nanoscience Institute and the Paul Scherrer Institute report that it is these reactions that are responsible for the hydrophobic effect.
Optical test modules cut out clutter
Five new optical test modules and a smaller benchtop chassis to expand the MTP test platform have been announced by Coherent Solutions. The new MTP modules - LaserBlade-DFB, Multimode VOABlade, terminating p PowerBlade, o2eBlade and SLEDBlade - add even more functionality to the optical engineer’s toolbox while improving testing efficiency and reducing workspace clutter.
Compact chokes for drive technology applications
At this year’s PCIM Europe, SMP Sintermetalle Prometheus (SMP), German manufacturer of inductive components and soft-magnetic materials, will present chokes for frequency converters and other drive technology applications. The compact, low-loss chokes have a space-efficient design and good EMC characteristics.
900V MOSFETs enhance efficiency of flyback converters
Using the latest 900V MDmesh K5 super-junction MOSFETs from STMicroelectronics, power-supply designers can satisfy system demands for higher power and greater efficiency. According to the company, these MOSFETs deliver best-in-class on-resistance (RDS(ON)) and dynamic characteristics. A 900V breakdown voltage assures extra safety margin in systems with high bus voltages. The new series contains the first 900V MOSFETs with RDS(ON)below 100mΩ, an...
Power trends in transportation
Transportation covers a fairly broad field of endeavour, from railway systems through to hybrid electric vehicles, e-bikes, e-scooters and more besides.A focus on energy efficiency is leading to a continuous stream of technology enhancements.
ROHM becomes a member of CharIN
ROHM has become a regular member of the CharIN (Charging Interface Initiative), an association to develop and establish the Combined Charging System (CCS) as the standard for charging battery-powered electric vehicles of all kinds.
1200V SiC Schottky diodes boost power, reduce space for solar inverters
PCIM Europe 2017 Stand 9-305 Two dual 1200V rated SiC Schottky diodes from IXYS are offered in SOT-227 packages for used in power conversion and motor control applications.
