TVS diode arrays protect DC powerlines
A series of TVS diode arrays have been introduced by Littelfuse, optimised to protect DC powerlines for PoweredUSB interfaces from damaging electrostatic discharges (ESDs).SP11xx series TVS diode arraysemploy Zener diodes fabricated in a proprietary silicon avalanche technology to protect each I/O pin in the interface.
Flat wire power inductor offers higher saturation current
A flat wire power inductor with very high current loading capacity and efficiency has been introduced byWürth Elektronik eiSos, the WE-HCF in a 2815 package. The latest member of the WE-HCF series is loadable up to 36A and attains saturation currents up to 125A. With its large wire cross-section, the inductor offers a 13% lower resistance than comparable products on the market and attains an up to 82% higher saturation current.
Harsh environment DC/DC converters offer up to 92% efficiency
Additional models have been introduced to TDK's HQA series of harsh environment DC/DC converters. The series now includes both 85 and 120W ratings with output voltages of 5, 12, 15, 24, 28 and 48V. The input voltage is 9-40V for the 5-28V units and 18-40V for the 48V unit. All models can withstand a 50V surge for 1s. With efficiencies of up to 92%, the HQA series is suited for use in COTS, communications and industrial equipment.
Half brick 150W DC/DC converters offer 8:1 input range
A series of 150W half brick DC/DC converters has been announced by XP Power, aimed at a wide range of applications where an ultra-wide input range are required. Conforming to the industry standard half brick footprint of 61.5x57.9x12.7mm (2.40x2.28x0.50"), and having pin out compatibility with existing industry standards, the QSB150 is highly efficient, typically up to 92%.
Medically-certified DC/DC converter is certified 2MOPP
A new fully medically-certified DC/DC converter has been developed by RECOM, which the company claims to be the first in its class to provide 2MOPP with 250VAC working voltage in a SIP7 package. This compact design offers engineers more freedom to develop their PCB layout, knowing that they will comply with the stringent regulations for medical certifications. It is certainly a challenge to design high performance, space-saving medical devices, wh...
Test solutions on parade at SEMICON West
Innovative test solutions, three technical papers and sponsorship of several activities are all on the menu for Advantest at the SEMICON West trade show (July 11-13) in San Francisco. The company will have exhibits on several of its product platforms for testing and measuring all aspects of semiconductor devices.
DC/DC converters drive high capacitive loads
The REC3A, REC5A and REC6A isolated DC/DC converters from RECOM are now available at Dengrove Electronic Components. They require no external filter components to pass EN 55022 class-A EMI tests. They will also pass the class-B tests for domestic products, with only a small capacitor added.
Seminars focus on wide bandgap semiconductor advances
A programme of European ‘Wide Bandgap Technology’ seminars which will help design engineers to take advantage of the latest SiC and GaN components has been announced by Future Electronics. SiC (silicon carbide) and GaN (gallium nitride) wide bandgap semiconductor materials are attracting great interest from power engineers because of their superior thermal, switching and power-handling characteristics compared to silicon.
Driver IC drives up to two stepper motors or four DC motors
Allegro MicroSystems Europe has introduced a new quad DMOS full-bridge driver IC capable of driving up to two stepper motors or four DC motors. Each full-bridge output is rated up to 1.6 A and 40 V. Allegro’s A5990 includes fixed off-time pulse-width modulation (PWM) current regulators, along with 2- bit nonlinear DACs (digital-to-analog converters) that allow stepper motors to be controlled in full, half, and quarter steps, and DC motors i...
