Printing process makes 3D objects glow
ConventionalElectroLuminescent (EL) foils can only be bent up to a certain degree and can be easily applied onto flat surfaces. The recent process, developed by Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and Franz Binder, now allows for the direct printing of EL layers onto three-dimensional components. Such EL components might be used to enhance safety in buildings in case of power failure.
Connector length reduced to save space
A new version of the popular Binder range of M8 connectors reduces the length by some 30% making them ideal for applications where space is at a premium such as in inductive proximity sensors. Until now all Binder M8 connectors incorporated a hole for an LED indicator but these new versions cater for a growing requirement for M8 sensor tube connectors without LEDs.
Connector range enhanced with female panel mount version
The extensive range of Binder M12 connectors has been enhanced with the introduction of female panel mount versions with an M20 x 1.5mm fixing thread to simplify assembly. These versions are pre-terminated with 200mm long, 0.25mm diameter(AWG 24) wires and complement the existing male panel mount versions.
3D printing materials market expected to reach $8bn by 2025
According to a report published by IDTechEx, the 3D printing materials market is expected to increase from $800m in 2013 to $8bn by 2025.3D printing is already common in aerospace, orthopaedic, jewellery and dental sectors, and is becoming more common in education, military, architecture, medical research and automotive sectors. This is because 3D printing is no longer used just for one-off pieces and prototypes, but for final part production of ...
Full-Range Stellram Portfolio from Kennametal Expands Pathways to Metalcutting Excellence
Late last year, Kennametal finalized its acquisition of the tungsten materials business from Allegheny Technologies Inc., including the full line of Stellram metalworking tools (formerly ATI Stellram). Now the full platform of Stellram products – with solutions specifically tailored to support energy, aerospace, transportation and other vital industries -- are available as part of the Kennametal portfolio.
Millions of standard components for engineers forum from TraceParts
TraceParts announced its media collaboration with the Techniker-Forum (Engineers Forum).
Magnetic position sensor replaces potentiometers
Simplifying the process of replacing a traditional potentiometer with a more reliable contactless alternative, ams has announced a magnetic rotary position sensor. The AS5600 features a ratiometric output which mirrors the output of a potentiometer, meaning that potentiometer users do not need to change the application code running on their MCU when they replace it with a design based on an AS5600.
Fiber papers expand up to 400% for gasket protection
Superwool fiber papers, a low bio-persistent solution suited for use in ceramics, glass and metals manufacturing processes, are now available from Morgan Advanced Materials. Also suited for use in commercial automotive and consumer goods applications, the papersare non-wetting to molten aluminum and feature low thermal conductivity, excellent tensile strength, thermal stability, and resistance to chemical attack.
Top speakers/sponsors on parade for free design forum
A top flight panel of speakers and sponsors are lined up to appear at the RF & Wireless/LED & Lighting Design Forum in Manchester on September 9. The free event is organised by Motiv8 Forums and it takes place at The Point, Lancashire County Cricket Club, Old Trafford.
Low bio-persistent solution performs at up to 1300°C
A low bio-persistent solution ideal for use in ceramics, glass and metals manufacturing processes, as well as in commercial automotive and consumer goods applications, has been introduced by Morgan Advanced Materials.Offering a low bio-persistent-solution, the Superwool fibre papers are non-wetting to molten aluminium and feature low thermal conductivity, excellent tensile strength, thermal stability, and resistance to chemical attack.
