Powerstax relocates to offer customers economies of scale
One of Europe’s leading value-added and industrial power solutions manufacturers, Powerstax, is consolidating its two business divisions into a single facility in Essex. In 2012 Powerstax acquired the ‘Drake’ brand of power conversion products and their manufacturing facility in Wickford, Essex. From Monday 8th May 2017 both product ranges will be sold, manufactured and supported from this facility.
Stay lit with open LED protectors
A range of open LED protectors has been introduced by Littelfuse, the PLEDxN series. These surface mount devices, which are designed for use with high-brightness, 1W LEDs with a nominal 350mA current at 3V, provide a switching electronic shunt path when an LED in an LED string or array fails as an open circuit. They are designed to reset automatically if the LED heals itself or the power is cycled.
Duo of isolated eighth-brick DC/DC converters deliver on efficiency
A pair of DC/DC converter modules in eighth-brick formats has been launched by Ericsson, which are able to handle currents of up to 40A and deliver world-leading efficiency.Enabling reduced energy and cooling costs, these two modules are the most efficient 40A-class eighth-brick-format power modules in the industry: the PKB4211D and PKB4110D deliver respective efficiencies of up to 95.3% and 94.7%, with tightly regulated 5 and 3.3V outputs at 50%...
Power film capacitors designed for EV/HEV applications
Two new capacitors have been introduced by AVX, the FHC1 and FHC2 Series power film capacitors were especially designed for electric and hybrid electric vehicle (EV/HEV) applications.Exhibiting high ripple current capabilities, high dielectric strength in operating conditions up to 115°C, low inductance, low ESR, and a low thermal footprint, the new FHC Series capacitors deliver high-reliability performance that compliments and protects high-...
Power film capacitors designed for EV/HEV applications
Releasing the new FHC1 and FHC2 Series power film capacitors, AVX Corporation has designed them especially for Electric and Hybrid Electric Vehicle (EV/HEV) applications.Exhibiting high ripple current capabilities, extremely high dielectric strength in operating conditions up to 115°C, low inductance, low ESR, and a low thermal footprint, the new FHC Series capacitors deliver high-reliability performance that compliments and protects high-pow...
‘Wespack’ rectifier diodes have record current rating
IXYS has announced that its wholly owned UK subsidiary, IXYS UK Westcode, launched a new range of ‘Wespack’ rectifier diodes in ultra-compact housings. The diodes are in a new package size which offers maximum power density without compromising on performance and quality. Available with voltage from 1.2 kV to 2.8 kV and average current ratings from 1730A to 2340A at a case temperature of 55C, these new diodes offer the highest possibl...
Two MOSFETs lower power consumption with 4.5V logic level drive
PCIM Europe 2017 Stand 9-301 Toshiba has announced two 100V N-channel power MOSFETs, that feature a lower power consumption, due to 4.5V logic level drive, for quick chargers, switched mode power supplies and DC/DC converters.
Optoelectronics sales move toward normal growth rates
In 2016, combined sales for optoelectronics, sensors and actuators, and discrete semiconductors increased two percent to reach a seventh consecutive record-high level of $67.9bn, but growth rates in the three market segments were all over the map last year. Optoelectronics sales fell four percent in 2016, primarily because of the first decline in lamp devices in 15 years due to an oversupply of high-brightness Light-Emitting Diodes (LEDs) for sol...
New generation of passive harmonic filters are robust and reliable
A new benchmark is being set with Schaffner’s product offering of harmonics mitigation solutions.Ecosine evo harmonic filters utilise technology to reliably control excessive power line harmonics with an evolutionary modular product concept.
Radiation-tolerant FPGAs assist launch of ten next-gen satellites
Provider of semiconductor solutions,Microsemi, has extended its congratulations to Iridium Communications, Thales Alenia Space, SpaceX and project subcontractors on the successful launch of the first ten Iridium NEXT satellites. Iridium NEXT is Iridium’s next-gen satellite constellation, replacing and enhancing its existing network of low-Earth orbit satellites spanning the globe. The project is leveraging more than 200,000 Microsemi device...
