Ceramic capacitors meet wide bandgap semiconductors trend
Commercial and automotive grade high voltage C0G Ceramic Capacitors from KEMET have been extended as increasing use of wide band power semiconductors in power electronics applications drives forward new inverter and DC/DC converter designs with far greater power density, voltage, current and frequency.
Electrolytic capacitors meet challenging applications
Now available in Europe through TTI are ALS70 and ALS80 series high CV screw terminal electrolytic capacitors from KEMET. The products are ideal for use in frequency converters, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) and switch mode power supplies (SMPS) in challenging electrical and environmental applications including rail.
Ecological equipment designed for sawing and storage
KASTO, has introduced a high performance, economically priced bandsaw optimised to extract the best possible performance from either a tungsten carbide tipped (TCT) blade or a bimetal blade. The KASTOwin pro AC 5.6 offers short cutting times, long blade life and intuitive operation. It is available in the UK and Ireland through the company’s Milton Keynes subsidiary, which will exhibit the machine for the first time at a MACH show.
9W in a SIP-8 package provided in DC/DC converters
Additionally offering its proven PMBW and PMB DC/DC converter series with up to 9W of output power, PEAK electronics has increased the components from being previously available with just 1W, 2W, 3W and 6W.In addition, both series of converters are now available in SIP-8 packages, meaning a space saving of almost 50% compared to the DIP-24 packages offered so far.
DC/DC converters designed for vehicle and rail applications
Specially designed for applications in vehicle and rail technology, MTM Power has introduced the primary switched DC/DC converters PCMDS150WK-IP65, which are also for use in industrial and telecommunication applications. The push-pull topology used while developing these converters enables a wide input voltage range with high efficiency. Thus the 150W converters are available with a wide input range for battery voltages of 24, 36, 48, 60, 72, 80, ...
Single-chip custom solutions provide optimised Edge computing
In order to give customers access to cost-optimised, custom single-chip solutions that put performance right at the edge of the IoT,S3 Semiconductors has announced the introduction of its SmartEdge Platform. Processing at the Edge is a rapidly evolving trend that accelerates data analytics at the source and reduces cloud-based processing, delivering more responsive decision making.
Integrated SoC boots grid infrastructure applications
Thenewest additions to the C2000 Piccolo microcontroller (MCU) portfolio have been unveiled byTexas Instruments (TI).With streamlined performance, the new C2000 F28004x MCU family is optimised for power control in cost sensitive applications such as on-board chargers for Electric Vehicles (EVs), inverters for motor control, and industrial power supplies.
Automotive grade isolation products from Silicon Labs
The number of electric vehicles is increasing rapidly, and Silicon Labs offers components such as analogue to digital converters, analogue measurement devices, gate drivers, and digital bus isolators.
Triple monolithic synchronous buck converter works from 3-42V
A 42V input capable, high efficiency quad output monolithic switching regulator has been announced by Analog Devices. The Power by Linear LT8603's flexible design combines a boost controller with two high voltage 2.5 and 1.5A synchronous step-down channels and a lower voltage 1.8A synchronous step-down channel to provide four independent outputs.
DC/DC controller operates in automotive start/stop systems
Analog Devices has announced the Power by LinearLTC7815, a high frequency (up to 2.25MHz) triple output (buck, buck, boost), synchronous DC/DC controller that maintains all output voltages in regulation during automotive cold crank conditions. A 12V automotive battery can droop to less than 4V during engine restart or cold crank, causing reset of infotainment systems and other electronics that operate from 5V and higher.
