Switching regulators now available as open-frame option
PEAK electronics, a supplier of DC/DC converters, AC/DC converters, switching regulators, and LED drivers, has added to its portfolio and now also offers its proven switching regulators as open frame versions. The new PSR-78xxC(-OF) series switching regulators have an output current of 500mA and the slightly larger PSR1-78xxC(-OF) versions have an output current of 1000mA.
Ultra-soft IGBT freewheeling diodes offer low losses
Infineon Technologies Bipolar GmbH & Co. KG has launched a diode family designed for modern IGBT applications: Infineon Prime Soft. This diode features an improved turn-off capability which now rates at 5kA/µs. Prime Soft builds on the IGCT freewheeling diode family which is based on a monolithic silicon design. Typical applications for the diodes are HVDC/FACTs and medium voltage drives using voltage source converters. These applicatio...
Development board kick starts low-power wireless designs
The Tiger board extends the SmartEverything family at Arrow Electronics. It features the NXP Semiconductors Kinetis KW41Z multi-protocol wireless MCU for extremely low-power connected devices. The board provides an ideal platform for products like smart door locks, portable healthcare technology, wearable sports monitors, RF remote controls, wireless computer keyboards and mice, gaming controllers, security access-control systems, smart energy pr...
GaN transistor is x20 smaller than silicon option
Efficient Power Conversion (EPC) claims that its 350V eGaN power transistor is 20 times smaller than the comparable silicon. This makes it suitable for use in multi-level converters, for EV charging, solar power inverters and motor drives.
Power supply units range from 120W to 960W for 2 and 3-phase operation
RECOM takes another step in expanding its power solutions portfolio for industrial applications with a power range from 0.25W to 1000W by introducing 2 and 3-phase AC/DC DIN-Rail PSUs. As the central power supply unit, the REDIN/3AC series are designed for extraordinary stability in harsh automation environments and will still continue to operate reliably from mains voltages of 320 up to 575VAC even when one phase fails.
Step down converters deliver low quiescent current
System designers looking to create small and highly efficient 40V load dump-tolerant applications can now utilise the ultra-compact, pin-compatible MAX20075 and MAX20076 step-down converters from Maxim Integrated. According to the company, the step-down converters offer the industry's lowest quiescent current (IQ) and comes in an ultra-small size solution with integrated compensation.
DC-DC converters meet harsh railway applications
DC-DC converters designed specifically for use in railway applications from Murata are now available in Europe through TTI. With encapsulated circuitry for optimal thermal and vibration performance, the IR Series delivers power efficiency in an industry-standard half or quarter brick pinout, enabling designers to choose the most effective solution for cooling and power delivery.
Four terminal shunts for high sensing efficiency
The HCSK Series from Stackpole is a surface mount metal element high current shunt with four terminals. Four terminal Kelvin sense resistors provide accurate sensing as it removes the effect of lead resistance in the sensing function. The HCSK2725 rated at 5W at an ambient temperature of 100ºC utilises materials and a raised element which provides tolerances as low as 1% and TCR of 50ppm/ºC.
Encapsulated 36W AC-DC converters protect to IP67
Powersolve just announced three series of plastic encapsulated AC-DC converters that offer protection to IP67 and are therefore suitable for use where the ingress of liquid and dust need to be avoided. The PS12MK, PS20MK and PS36MK Series are switch mode power supplies that provide 10 to 36W from the universal input range of 90 to 264VAC.Output voltages across the 15 models in the PS12MK, PS20MK and PS36MK Series range from 5 to 24VDC.
Automotive industry dialogue: the way to mobility solutions
The Baden-Württemberg Automotive Industry Strategy Dialogue is visibly picking up speed. The first twelve pilot projects related to the transformation of mobility are underway. By organising the Strategy Dialogue, which is planned for seven years, the state government of Baden-Württemberg positions itself as a driver of the transformation of Germany’s automobile state into the country’s number-one state for mobility.
