On target streaming trace with a J-TAG
Tracealyzer, a runtime RTOS tracing tool, from Percepio permits extensive on target tracing and tracking from with the main embedded RTOS using only a standard J-TAG debugger. This sort of tracing is normally only available with a hardware trace unit such as a Segger J-Trace or Lauterbach uTrace or an ICE.
Phaedrus Systems adds three new principals
Phaedrus Systems has added three new principals. The company now distributes: Stimulus, a simulation environment to edit, debug, and test requirements from Argosim; Tracealyzer, a runtime RTOS tracing tool from Percepio; and SuperTest, a compiler test and validation suite for C and C++ from Solid Sands.
Tracealyzer brings streaming trace to FreeRTOS
Percepio has announced the availability of Tracealyzer version 3.0, initially supporting FreeRTOS and SEGGER embOS. The new generation Tracealyzer offers continuous trace streaming, allowing for essentially unlimited traces of task scheduling, interrupts and application logging. Trace streaming is supported via SEGGER J-Link debug probes which offer great performance on ARM Cortex-M and Renesas RX MCUs.
The world’s lowest power ARM Cortex-A5-based MPUs
A series of MPUs claimed to deliver the world’s lowest power consumption has been released by Atmel. The Atmel | SMART ARM Cortex-A5-based MPUs deliver sub 200µA in retention mode with context preserved, 30µs ultra-fast wake-up and a new backup mode with DDR in self-refresh at only 50µA.
Efficiently store gigabytes of data on MCU NAND flash
Segger has upgraded the emFile file management system for embedded applications by adding a block grouping feature to reduce the amount of RAM needed for block management of NAND flash memory. NAND can now be used for gigabytes of data with smaller MCUs.
Emprog ThunderBench supports STM's discovery kit
Phaedrus Systems has announced that the Emprog ThunderBench C/C++ development tool suite now supports the STM32F746NGH6 discovery kit, which includes the STM32F7 MCU core.
World’s highest-performing ARM Cortex-M7 based MCUs
Atmel has announced that its shipping what it claimed to be the highest performing ARM Cortex-M based MCUs on the market, the Atmel | SMART SAM S70 and E70 series. With 50% higher performance than the closest competitor, larger configurable SRAM, larger embedded Flash and high-bandwidth peripherals, these devices offer the suitable mix of connectivity, memory and performance. The SAM S70 and E70 series allow customers to scale-up performance and ...
Software development tools available for Freescale Kinetis MCUs
SOMNIUM Technologies has announced the general availability of version 2.1 of its Device-aware Resequencing Tools (DRT) software development tools for Freescale Kinetis MCUs.
Secure the connection between browser & web-server
An updated version of Segger's emSSL secure sockets implementation with both client and server capability, has been released by Phaedrus System. Needing only 7KB of RAM to support asecure connection between browser and the web-server makes emSSL suitable for operation on single-chip systems.
Debugger toolchain supports IoT-targeted MCUs
IAR Systems has released an updated version of its popular development toolchain IAR Embedded Workbench for 8051. The high-performance compiler and debugger toolchain has been further improved with added support for IoT-targeted MCUs, as well as parallel build for quicker build times.
