MPU-based solution gives lift off to TSN Ethernet
TSN applications to support multiple real-time industrial Ethernet protocols have been developed by a team of EBV Elektronik, NXP Semiconductors and Fraunhofer IOSB-INA. The TSN demonstrator is based on NXP’s Layerscape LS1028A industrial applications processor, which is deployed in multiple LS1028ARDB reference design boards for the demonstrator.
Printed electronics to take centre stage at LOPEC 2020
LOPEC, the international exhibition and conference for the printed electronics industry showcases every aspect of printed electronics, from the theory and practice behind the technology to its business and application potential.
Updatable security for long life Industry 4.0 and ICT systems
Connected machines and ICT systems require security mechanisms that are particularly robust and remain so for the long life common with industrial hardware. Withstanding attacks over the long term means keeping the protections at the through updates. Researching and assessing such updatable security mechanisms was the objective of the joint ALESSIO project.
Overcoming EV range anxiety wirelessly
The automotive industry is undergoing one of the biggest periods of change in its history as drivetrains migrate from the internal combustion engine (ICE) to electric motors. While technology development is making great strides in increasing the range of modern electric vehicles (EV), one of the greatest impediments to adoption is consumer concern about being stuck with a flat battery – the so-called ‘range anxiety’.
6G research presses ahead with terahertz demonstrations
While the new 5G technology is at the first stages of rollout, Rohde & Schwarz, the Fraunhofer Institute for Telecommunications, Heinrich Hertz Institute, HHI and the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Solid State Physics IAF are taking a step further with demonstrations in the terahertz (THz) frequency band, related to the 6th generation wireless mobile communication (6G).
Research project for quantum dot colour filters for microLEDs
Quantum dot-based colour filters for micro-LEDs are one of the most promising future technologies for displays. This technology makes displays even more brilliant, more efficient and even thinner, compared to displays with conventional colour filters.
Battery innovation roadmap points to energy storage revolution
One of the world’s mainstay battery technologies is set to turbo charge its performance to support growing demand for more battery energy storage in the EU. The European Commission has predicted a ten times increase in demand for EU battery energy storage by 2050.
Lectures on network roll-out and fibre technology
LASER COMPONENTS has set the agenda for this year's LWL Symposium. As expected, the impending 5G roll-out will be one of the dominant topics at the expert meeting on October 24th. In addition to the new mobile telecommunications standard, the participants will also discuss the latest developments in active and passive network components.
IoTSWC 2019 awards the solutions
Eiffage together with Bioservo Technologies; Cartesiam.ai with éolane; and Zyfra with their work for SUEK have been the winning companies of the IoT Solutions Awards 2019 that the IoT Solutions World Congress convened and which recognise the best international projects developed in the field of industrial internet in the last year.
Enhanced reliability in highly automated vehicles
By 2030, it is predicted that 50% of newly registered vehicles will be electrically powered, connected or automated. This dramatic upsurge in functionality requires a new system approach in vehicle architecture to support electromobility and highly automated driving.
