GaN-on-Silicon technology enables 120lm/W
Offering greater than 50% light output efficiency, Plessey Semiconductors' MAGIC GaN-on-Silicon technology has successfully achieved a light output of 120lm/W. The first engineering samples in the 5630 PLCC2 package are now shipping with other package variants available on demand. Blue die with a wavelength of 455nm are also available and being shipped to lead customers.
SMT printer supports frequent product changeovers
Theeasy-to-use MANTIS SMT stencil printer, available for Windows 7, is designedfor production environments requiring frequent product changeovers during the day.Compact, yet capable of using 29" stencils and handling board sizes up to 650x580mm, the Mantis offers best in class results with respect to footprint as well as functionality.
New 5-Axis Machining Centre Has Wealth Of Automation Options
A new, 5-axis machining centre has been added to the Hermle C-series range, which now consists of seven models. The C 32 U dynamic is capable of fully interpolative 5-axis profiling as well as 5-sided machining within a working envelope of 650 x 650 x 500 mm. The single-lift machine can be transported as a single unit and has three-point support requiring no special foundations. Availability is through sole UK and Ireland agent, Geo Kingsbury.
drylin room gantry for 3D movements
igus’ latest video looks at the specifications of its new drylin room gantry. Used to implement three-dimensional applications, the room gantry is based on a flat gantry system with a vertical axis. With the limit switch assembly housed within a T-slot, the complete length of the gantry’s profile can be used, enhancing its capabilities. Thanks to the self-lubricating nature of the drylin components, the room gantry requires no mainten...
Panasonic Presents Latest Smart Home and Automotive Applications at Electronica 14
Panasonic Automotive & Industrial Systems Europe (PAISEU) which combines the decades of experience from Panasonic Automotive Systems Europe, Sanyo Components Europe, Panasonic Industrial Devices Sales Europe and Panasonic Electric Works, will exhibit for the first time, as a newly founded consolidated company at Electronica 2014 – Munich, Germany, November 11-14.
CeraLink – a compact solution for converters
TDK Corporation presents a new generation of the EPCOS CeraLink, a highly compact solution for the snubber and DC links of fast-switching converters based on SiC and GaN semiconductors. These new capacitors are based on the ceramic material PLZT (lead lanthanum zirconate titanate). In contrast to conventional ceramic capacitors, CeraLink has its maximum capacitance at the application voltage, and this even increases proportionately to the share o...
Whitepaper explores 25W X-band GaN PA MMIC design
Plextek RFI has published a whitepaper on the design of a 25W X-band Gallium Nitride (GaN) PA MMIC (Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuit). This case study describes the design and performance of a 25W X-band GaN PA MMIC designed on WIN Semiconductor's 0.25μm GaN on SiC process.
PMU module improves high-level measurement accuracy
Advantest has launched a new multi-purpose parametric measurement unit (PMU) module, the T2000 PMU32E, to enhance its T2000 platform’s capabilities in testing digital, analogue and power-management system-on-chip (SoC) devices. The new high-density, 32-channel module is fully compatible with Advantest’s original PMU32 module – even using the same tester interface unit (TIU) – while offering twice the resolution and accurac...
Partnership to produce 'made-in-Britain' LED range
Plessey has announced that it has entered a long-term commercial agreement with 8point3, a Dartford-based LED luminaire manufacturing company. Plessey will be supplying its GaN-on-Silicon MaGICTM LEDs, made at its semiconductor manufacturing facility in Plymouth, for use in 8point3's Sabre Architectural range of LED linear lighting products.
GaN-on-Silicon technology enhances large area LED die
Plessey announces the realisation of its high-performance, high-quality, high-volume large LED die, based on its GaN-on-Silicon technology. The large die benefits from three core features of the Plessey process: the low thermal resistance of silicon; a single-surface, emitter die design; and 6" wafer processing.
