Accelerating the move to remote and virtualised workflows
Over the last three decades, we’ve seen a shift from specialised units for various video and audio functions, to high performance hardware platforms which can be repurposed on-the-fly to support any AV processing, and now to virtualised media applications and microservices which can be spun up and deployed (and paid for) only when you need them (Figure 1). Rob Green, Senior Manager, Pro AV, Broadcast & Consumer, Xilinx, explains.
Extended regenerative bidirectional DC power supplies15kW to 900kW
Delta Electronika extends their line-up of bidirectional sink source DC power supplies which incorporate a DC source with a grid-tied DC load in a single unit with the addition of the SM210-CP-150 (0 to 210V, -150 to +150A).
Satellite cars off to flying start for ITV Studios Daytime
dB Broadcast has completed delivery of four new satellite cars to ITV. The fleet has been continuously busy making live contributions from around the UK into numerous daytime programmes such as Good Morning Britain (0600-0900, weekdays ITV1) and This Morning (1000-1230, ITV1), including covering an item on the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, the Red Arrows, ahead of their recent appearances at the G7 summit in Cornwall and Trooping the Colour.
Terminal sealing by moulding for push button switches
Knitter-switch, one of Europe’s switch manufacturers, offers a newquality of protection for push button switches.
Incremental encoder supports extended resolution options
CUI Devices’Motion Grouphas announced the introduction of a new model to itsAMT incremental encoder family. Based on the existingAMT10 seriespackage, the newAMT10E seriesoffers 13 new resolutions not possible in the standard version, including the common 1250 PPR, 2500 PPR, and 5120 PPR resolutions.
Bringing supercomputing to next-gen space applications
Aitech’s S-A1760 Venus brings NVIDIA-based AI supercomputing to next-gen space applications - a radiation-characterised COTS system qualified for use in small sat clusters and short-duration spaceflights.
Choosing the right motor for HVAC systems
Central to the success of HVAC systems are the miniature motors necessary to actuate the control valves. In addition to generating the required torque at low speed to regulate gas flow, the motors must ensure long and reliable life, combined with efficiency and cost effectiveness.
Absolute vs. Incremental Encoders - what’s the difference?
When you need to measure the speed, direction of motion, or position of a rotating shaft, you will likely require a rotary encoder.
Toshiba release ARM Cortex-M4 microcontrollers
Toshiba have announced mass production of 12 new motor control microcontrollers (MCUs) in its M4K group of devices. These will be the very first products in the new advanced TXZ+ family. Additionally, Toshiba announced that it will start mass production of a further ten motor control MCUs in their M4M group in July 2021. All of the new devices will be manufactured in a 40nm process, and form part of Toshiba’s TXZ4A+ series.
Automotive HD Link enables high-def using low-cost cables
Renesas Electronics has introduced its new Automotive HD Link (AHL) technology that enables automotive manufacturers to deliver high-definition video over low-cost cables and connectors that currently support standard-definition video. HD video is increasingly important in car safety systems for object recognition functionality.
