Hillcrest Labs bring Freespace motion technology to TCL's Smart TVs
TCL Multimedia has signed a new multi-year agreement to extend the use of Hillcrest’s patented Freespace in-air pointing and motion control software in TCL’s Internet-connected Smart TVs. Freespace enables small in-air movements of remote controls to move a cursor around the TV screen. This allows users to navigate their TV user interface with point-and-click controls, just like they do on computers, smartphones and tablets.
Altium and Silicon Labs announce Design Content for EFM32 Gecko MCUs
Altium has released a new range of component libraries for board-level designs using the ARM Cortex-M based EFM32 Gecko microcontrollers, which were developed by Energy Micro (recently acquired by Silicon Labs). Available now from AltiumLive the solution delivers board-level component models and corresponding supply chain information, such as real-time price and availability data from distributors and vendors including Digi-Key, Arrow and Farnell...
Speed DSP Smart Sensor Design with EFM32 Wonder Gecko Development Kits
Silicon Labs has today announced development kits and application software demonstrations for the EFM32 Wonder Gecko microcontroller family, developed by Energy Micro (recently acquired by Silicon Labs). Designed to help embedded engineers leverage 32-bit digital signal control, the development kits and software examples feature extremely low standby power modes and high-performance CPU.

Absopulse's unveil the LPS 2K5-U/4x12CT ac/dc power supply system
The LPS 2K5-U/4x12CT ac/dc power supply system with four outputs was developed for applications that require voltages in the 12V to 48Vdc range, with high current. This 2500W, heavy-duty industrial grade system is suitable for engineering and product test labs. The power system is built with four galvanically isolated internal modules.
Forethought is a wonderful thing
Why design engineers need to think about circuit protection as part of the design process, rather than as an afterthought. Bharat Shenoy, Director of Technical Marketing, Electronics Business Unit, Littlefuse, explores this view in this article from ES Design magazine.
Silicon Labs Introduces the Industry’s First Single-Die MEMS Oscillator
Silicon Labs today introduced the industry’s most highly integrated MEMS-based oscillators designed to replace general-purpose crystal oscillators in cost-sensitive, low-power and high-volume industrial, embedded and consumer electronics applications such as digital cameras, storage and memory, ATM machines, point-of-sale equipment and multi-function printers.
Advanced Triggering Capability Added to Test Card
Data Device Corporation (DDC) has added enhanced test and simulation functionality to the BU-67210T cPCI/PXI MIL-STD-1553 test card. In addition to variable output voltage, variable intermessage gap time, and error injection, it now offers enhanced triggering capability that can be used to trigger external devices in real time based on user defined events, making it a highly adaptable solution for production test labs.
