Contributing to the stable supply of energy
It has been announced that Hitachi has received an order from Chubu Electric Power for the delivery of two Voltage-Sourced Frequency Converters (300,000 kW each; 1FC and 3FC) for Higashi Shimizu Substation, equipment installation construction work and tests.
LED driver family eliminates audible noise with control method
Allegro MicroSystems has announced its latest generation of advancedLED backlight drivers, the A8060x family. The device family is designed with an innovative and patented Pre-Emptive Boost (PEB) control, eliminating noise that is typically audible.PEB control in the A8060x family substantially reduces Voutripple and eliminates the common problem of audible noise from ceramic output capacitors during PWM dimming, while also requiring less output ca...
Power inductors have lowest DC losses
At this year’s PCIM, Coilcraft will be featuring its new XGL4020 series of moulded power inductors. According to the company, they have the industry’s lowest DC losses and extremely low AC losses for a wide range of DC/DC converters (from hundreds of kHz up to +5MHz).
Rectifiers reduce conduction and switching losses
Six FRED Pt Gen 5 1200 V Hyperfast and Ultrafast rectifiers have been introduced by Vishay Intertechnology. Offering excellent conduction and switching loss trade-off for devices in their class, the 30A and 60A Vishay rectifiers are designed to increase the efficiency of high frequency converters and of hard- and soft-switched or resonant designs.
Synchronous buck DC-DC converter with ultra-low IQ
The LM5164 synchronous buck converter from Texas Instruments is designed to regulate over a wide input voltage range, minimising the need for external surge suppression components. A minimum controllable on-time of 50ns facilitates large step-down conversion ratios, enabling the direct step-down from a 48V nominal input to low-voltage rails for reduced system complexity and solution cost.
Renault Trucks are the 'go to' for code blue ambulance conversions
Bespoke vehicle converters, Code Blue Specialist Vehicles has taken delivery of five new Renault Trucks Master vans, citing the vehicle’s dimensions, payload, durability and reduced down-time, together with service from Sparks Commercial Services and Renault Trucks, for its purchase decision.
