Industrial PC combines mobility, performance & robustness
JLT Mobile Computersis now shipping its VERSO+ 10 computer with the Intel Core processor option, providing more computing power in the most compact and robust form factor. Thanks to its powerful processor, the VERSO+ 10 can support a wide range of OSs including Windows 8.1 Industry, Windows 7 Pro and Windows Embedded Standard 7, and is designed for operation in harsh industrial environments.
IDT has shipped 10m RF devices
Integrated Device Technology announced that it has shipped 10m RF devices, less than four years after entering the market. Since beginning RF development in 2009, IDT has advanced wireless infrastructure technology with a stream of SNR enhancing innovations for leading RF developers.
MCU provides IoT devices with enhanced security
An MCU, designed for use in secure systems control, has been introduced by Toshiba Electronics Europe. The TMPM46BF10FG, which expands the company’s existing TX04 range and adds a selection of enhanced security features, is an ARM Cortex-M4F based MCU. Suitable applications include IoT devices, energy management systems, sensor technology and industrial equipment.
LTE-only module cuts the cost of 2G to 4G transition
Expanding its popular xE910 series, Telit Wireless Solutions has introduced an LTE-only module which has been designed to optimise bandwidth and performance, while limiting the cost of transitioning from 2G to 4G. The first LE910 V2 variant is a single-mode LTE module. With no fallback in 3G and 2G networks, it is optimised for regions where the 4G technology already has penetration rates above the 90% level.
3D printed bike optimised for weight & strength
From the Greek words "topo" meaning "place" and "ology" meaning "study", topological optimisation is the study of mathematically optimising material layout. When approaching a component part in this way, the end goal is to remove superfluous material in areas of low stress whilst maintaining structural integrity of the whole; the lighter and stronger the better. Panel PCs target navigation at sea
A series of panel PCs targeting navigation at sea has been released by APLEX Technology. The APC-3X20 panel PCs are available in 12.1, 19 and 24” LCD sizes equipped with wide viewing angle screens to fit different vessel requirements. The IEC 60945 certified devices, which are compliant with the DNV Standard, feature sunlight/moonlight readability, an anti-corrosion coating, isolated voltage and dimming technology.
ARM-based touch PCs suit HMI, POS & kiosk applications
DFI has introduced its latest ARM-based products, a 7” Touch Panel PC, KS210-IMX6, and a 10.1” Touch Panel PC, KS310-IMX6. The two fanless Touch Panel PCs utilise Freescale i.MX 6 Cortex-A9 core processors with speeds of up to 1.0GHz. Based on the open-source Android OS, system integrators and software developers will find it easy to develop application programmes.
Six trends driving the future of wireless
Imagination Technologies identified six trends driving industry momentum at the recent MWC 2015, focused on security, IoT interoperability, wearables, computer vision, communications infrastructure, and ultra-low power connectivity. ImgTec says these trends confirm its vision for mobile's future, and the technology roadmaps it is pursuing in anticipation of future needs.
