PRESSWORKING PRODUCTIVITY DOUBLED - High-speed press with twin servo drives can accommodate two tools, side-by-side or in-line
The generous working area and power of a new Bruderer BSTA 510-125 high-speed press, installed in April 2011 at the Cirencester factory of Batten & Allen, is proving particularly versatile for the precision stamping specialist.
Field Precision Develops FE BUILDER 3D
Field Precision announced a release date for FE BUILDER 3D, a utility for finite-element software developers. The package includes a conformal hexahedron mesh generator and a fully customizable postprocessor with advanced visualization capabilities.
High Accuracy Speed Sensor
The SPEEDBOX2 is the successor to Race Technology’s highly regarded SPEEDBOX which is already used by many automotive OEMs and vehicle testing organisations worldwide. The SPEEDBOX2 is a high accuracy, low latency GPS and inertial transducer suitable for interfacing with a wide range of data acquisition and logging systems. Primarily, the SPEEDBOX2 is used to measure speed and distance travelled, however other outputs include position, gradient...
Maximising Pump/Drive Motor Efficiencies Relies On Selecting The Correct Drive Coupling…says David Brooksbank Director of Marketing Altra Industrial Motion
Companies that upgrade their pumping systems, or install new systems, both with the objective of improving efficiency, commit themselves to substantial investment, not only in terms of the pumps themselves, but also with new energy efficient motors to drive them. However, these investments can easily be wasted if the pump/motor combination is not integrated in a way that not only maximises the respective pump and motor efficiencies, but also prot...

Four-Fold Increase in Educational Sites Using Flomerics EFD Software
Since Flomerics announced its EFD for Education Initiative a year ago there has been a four-fold increase in the number of sites using its popular Engineering Fluid Dynamics (EFD) software for teaching and research purposes. Flomerics aims to ensure that mechanical engineering students and researchers have access to the latest fluid dynamics software used in industry. Unlike traditional Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation software, EFD...
Flow Simulation Improves Photovoltaic Solar Panel Performance
Schueco, one of the leading producers of photovoltaic panels, used Flomerics’ Flovent computational fluid dynamics software to redesign its products to improve their thermal performance so that 15% to 20% more panels can be used in a given space. Today’s photovoltaic panels present a major thermal design challenge since every degree Centigrade of temperature rise reduces the power produced by 0.5%. “The CFD results helped us understand exac...
Flomerics software used to create first real-time cooling calculator for data centers
Flomerics today announced that APC (American Power Conversion) recently selected Flomerics’ Flovent computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software to develop the world’s first real-time cooling calculator for data center design. The calculator computes a cooling performance metric called the capture index that assesses the local airflow around each rack and evaluates cooling performance and the scalability of cooling architecture.
Maplesoft expands scope of automotive models with tyre components
Maplesoft, has announced an add-on component library for its physical modelling and simulation product MapleSim™. The MapleSim Tire Component Library is available at Adept Scientific (Letchworth, Herts) and allows engineers to extend their multi-domain MapleSim vehicle models with high-performance pneumatic tyre components.
