electronica 2018 Cyber Security Forum
Security is the key feature in any electronics system or product, whether it is embedded in the hardware or implemented using software. Hosted by Electronic Specifier, the Cyber Security Forum at electronica will offer a range of solutions from four key industry sectors. The forum will take place on 14th-15th November, hall C3, stand 534.
Turning fashion wearables into payment devices
It has never been easier to integrate secured payment functionality into fashion accessories: Infineon Technologies now provides EMV-based payment solutions for key chains, rings, wristbands or bracelets. The new SECORA Pay W for Smart Payment Accessories (SPA) combines an EMV chip with the card operating system, payment applet as well as the antenna directly on tape.
EtherCAT Slave combined with MCU for industrial applications
Real time EtherCAT communications meet C2000 MCU real time control as the Beckhoff ET1100 EtherCAT slave controller (ESC) from Texas Instruments is combined with an 800 MIPS Delfino microcontroller.
Credit card sized HMI development hardware
Coinciding with the BT815 and BT816 advanced graphics controller ICs being ramped up into volume production, Bridgetek has introduced a series of accompanying entry-level development modules. Supporting a range of different display configurations, the compact (54.1x85.60mm) VM816C modules each feature a BT816 device.
Power control system integrates with renewable sources
A new power control system for Quinnipiac University’s York Hill Campus, located in Hamden, Connecticut, ties together a range of green energy power generation sources with utility and emergency power sources. By Steve Dunn, Aftermarket Product Line Manager, Russelectric
The connected smart future at electronica 2018
At this year’s electronica trade fair, Avnet Silica, an Avnet company, will participate as part of the joint Avnet EMEA presence located in Hall C5, Stand 101. The company will showcase its advanced semiconductor-based solutions, and as one of four major business units on the stand, together will demonstrate the broad competences of Avnet’s unique ecosystem.
Industrial Development Kit supports single core AM57x
The AM571x Industrial Development Kit (IDK) from Texas instruments supports the single core AM57x with Cortex A-15 targeted for Industrial applications. It can provide support for simultaneous six-port Ethernet, 2xRGMII and 4xMII, and has integrated Industrial Ethernet and Fieldbus protocols for simultaneous master/slave, master/master or slave/slave operation.
The future of EVs on show in Silicon Valley
Many new electric vehicles were on display at the IDTechEx Show on 14th-15th November in Santa Clara, California. However, that was the tip of the iceberg. The event had a hidden message - the future enabling technologies for electric vehicles (EVs), from buses to cars to mining vehicles.
Measuring torque without slip rings
Made by Sensor Technology, the TorqSense rotary torque sensors are unlike the traditional slip ring transducers. To start wit they use a simple non-contact radio link for collecting real-time torque signals, letting machine builders and control engineers can do away with expensive and temperamental slip ring, therefore simply mounting the sensors and checking the radio connection is all that is required to set up a TorqSense.
Trigger function enhances 5G test platform
Test setups for new technologies such as 5G and state-of-the-art radar technology require switch and control technology with large frequency ranges and short switching times. To meet this requirement, Rohde & Schwarz has completely revised its platform and now presents the new R&S OSP220/230/320 units and the new R&S OSP-B200S2 satellite box.
