ICs offer low class current consumption and enhanced security
Two new ICs have been launched by Toshiba Electronics Europe- TC3567CFSG and TC3567DFSG. The latest additions to the company’s line-up of high-performance devices supporting Bluetooth Low Energy ver.4.2 communications match the low current consumption delivered by its previous products while also offering enhanced security functionality. Both ICs realise a peak current consumption of just 3.3mA at 3V supply when in transmission mode, through...
Racing sponsorship puts young people in the driving seat
The TUfast Racing Team from Technical University Munich (TU Munich) will be sponsored by Panasonic Automotive & Industrial Systems in the Formula SAE/Formula Student racing competition for the second consecutive year. The TUfast Racing Team uses Panasonic’s product portfolio including Soft Pyrolytic Graphite Sheet (SoftPGS) which is a Thermal Interface Material (TIM), the Grid-EYE infrared array thermal sensor, as well as different pass...
IGBTs released for power management applications
IXYS Corporation have announced the 1700V and 2500V XPT IGBTs for power management applications. With current ratings ranging from 26-178A, the devices are well suited for high-voltage (HV), high-speed power conversion applications, and devices that are co-packed with anti-parallel fast diodes are also available.
Magnetrons designed for radiotherapy linear accelerator use
While the defence sector has historically been and remains MPE’s largest market, the same high levels of quality, performance and reliability demanded by this sector are also required by the medical and scientific markets. Accordingly MPE has been supplying its high-performance feedthrough products to e2v Technologies since 1999, some 18 years ago.Via its Medical Division based in Chelmsford, Essex, e2v have long supplied products into the ...
Wideband GaN amplifier offers high gain power and efficiency
A wideband gallium nitride (GaN) power amplifier that offers best-in-class performance within a compact design has been announced by Analog Devices.Covering the 300MHz to 6GHz spectrum, the highly integrated HMC8205 provides significant benefits for system designers of applications such as wireless infrastructure, radar, public mobile radio, and general-purpose amplification test equipment that require pulse or continuous wave (CW) support.
Evaluation kit enables simplified design
Cypress Semiconductor has introduced a new kit to evaluate its energy harvesting PMIC family. The CYALKIT-E04 Evaluation Kit providea developers with an easy-to-use platform to create battery-free systems using a solar-powered module or to support battery-life extension, and can be used for evaluation of diverse power management functions used for wireless sensor nodes. The kit can be used with BLE wireless connectivity solutions from Cypress for...
High voltage for next-gen particle accelerator
The most well-known use of high voltage pulses is in electric fences on farms. However, particle accelerators in large-scale research facilities such as CERN in Geneva also rely on high voltage pulse generators – but these produce pulses with much higher energies and voltages than those used in agricultural fences. Preparatory work is currently underway at CERN for the next large-scale research project from 2025.
Wideband GaN MMIC amplifier saves space in comms and test equipment
A wideband gallium nitride (GaN) power amplifier, the HMC8205, covers the 300MHz to 6GHz spectrum and offers best-in-class performance in a compact design, claims Analog Devices.
Patented technology takes silicon capacitors into demanding applications
An innovative and disruptive technology is at the heart of a new range of silicon capacitors from Murata*, now available at RS Components. The patented technology from Murata Integrated Passive Solutions enables the integration of a wide range of capacitor values in silicon, allowing the range to be used in many applications that require high performance and miniaturisation.
Controller supports LLC-based power supply designs
ON Semiconductor has introduced an advanced synchronous rectifier (SR) controller optimised for LLC resonant converter topologies. The FAN6248 requires minimal additional components, delivers high efficiency, eases thermal management, improves overall system reliability, and simplifies the design of LLC power supplies. The FAN6248 is an ideal solution for modern, high-performance, power supply units (PSU) where high levels of reliability and effic...
