u-blox has announced TOBY-L201, the world’s first 4G LTE Cat 4 module with 3G WCDMA fall-back, which works on AT&T and Verizon networks. TOBY-L201 switches automatically or via AT command to AT&T’s or Verizon’s network, without the need to load firmware. Depending on which carrier’s SIM card is inserted, TOBY-L201 recognises the carrier and starts on that carrier’s network.

Six in ten smartphones sold in Q2 2015 were 4G-enabled
Almost six in ten smartphones sold in Q2 2015 were 4G-enabled, according to the latest global smartphone sales data from GfK. And with a major operator launching 4G services in India at the start of this month, 4G is now available in all key countries. GfK forecasts 4G smartphone penetration to continue to grow at the expense of 3G, which is currently at 38% of smartphone units and is forecast to decline by another percentage point by Q4 2015.
2014 worldwide OE automotive entertainment vendor rankings
According to analysis by Semicast Research, Continental and Bosch topped the worldwide OE automotive entertainment systems vendor share ranking in 2014, with both suppliers considerably ahead of Alpine and Harman Becker. Collectively these four suppliers are estimated to have accounted for about half of OE automotive entertainment systems shipments in 2014.
