MCUs combine Cortex-M7 core & advanced peripherals
STMicroelectronicshas become the first chip maker to begin volume production of MCUs featuring the ARMCortex-M7 processor: the latest and highest-performing Cortex-M core for advanced consumer, industrial, medical, and IoT devices. The smart architecture of ST's STM32F7 microcontrollerscombines the Cortex-M7 core with advanced peripherals.
Digi-Key to distribute ARM's 'Lab-in-a-Box' to universities
Digi-Key Electronics has announced a partnership with the ARM University programmeto distribute the innovative 'Lab-in-a-Box' (LiB) to higher educational institutions around the globe. The LiB contains ARM-based technology and high quality, rigorous training materials that support electronics and computer engineering courses.
3D chip stacking technology for digital processing
IRT Nanoelec and its partners CEA-Leti, STMicroelectronics and Mentor Graphics have realised an innovative 3D chip called 3DNoC to demonstrate the use of 3D stacking technology in scalable, complex digital SoCs.
1200V IGBTs feature the industry's lowest saturation voltage
To increase the power-conversion efficiency of UPSs, solar generators, welders, industrial motor drives and similar equipment, the S-series 1200V IGBTs from STMicroelectronics are optimised for the lowest combined conduction and turn-off losses at switching frequencies up to 8kHz.
Voice-over-BLE targets wearable applications
Voice control that can make wearable technology simpler and more battery-friendly just became easier to add with software-based innovations from STMicroelectronics. With the BlueVoice software, designers get all the drivers and libraries they need to implement voice transmission over a BLE connection in systems built around ST’s STM32 MCUs, BlueNRG ultra-low-power network processors, and digital MEMS microphones.
Evaluation board is based on high voltage converter
The STEVAL-ISA162V1 Evaluation Board from STMicroelectronics is now on sale at Mouser Electronics. This new evaluation board implements an isolated flyback (12V/0.84A) 10W wide-range mains developed for general-purpose applications. The core of the application is the VIPer25HD, an off-line, high-voltage converter from the ST’s VIPerPlus family.
The race is on
As autonomous vehicles edge ever closer to mainstream reality, it’s now legislation and litigation that are expected to hold things up, not technology. But that only puts more pressure on manufacturers to get their solutions to market, as Philip Ling investigates.
Entry-level satellite SoC powers HD STB
STMicroelectronics has revealed that its STiH237 Cardiff satellite SoC is powering the Satellite HD Zapper STB from Skyworth Digital. Cardiff is ST's entry-level satellite STB platform that delivers superior video decoding and the highest reliability under the worst field conditions, enabling superior display and image quality and broadcast demodulation performance.
ST showcases STB SoCs for next-gen digital TV
Demonstrating its latest STB SoCs, STMicroelectronics has revealed that it will exhibit at CommunicAsia 2015, 2nd to 5th June 2015 in Singapore. The devices are designed to enable cable, satellite, IPTV and terrestrial operators to deliver market-leading capabilities for next-generation products.
