Future of Wireless Conference: IoT must focus on demand rather than need
"The IoT industry is confusing need with demand" said Professor Mischa Dohler, King's College London and Co-founder of Worldsensing, in an opening session at this week’s CW 8th Future of Wireless International Conference at the IET: Savoy Place in London. “People don’t care about smart homes and smart cities, they care about better healthcare and less congestion.”
Evaluation module demos high speed DAC performance
The new ADC32RF45 EVM evaluation module from Texas Instruments (TI) demonstrates the performance of a dual 3-GSPS 14-bit ADC32RF45 analogue-to-digital converter (ADC) with the JESD204B interface is available at Mouser Electronics. The ADC32RF45 EVM allows design engineers to design smaller, higher-performance radar, software-defined radio (SDR), test and measurement, aerospace and defense, wireless communications, and radio astronomy equipment.
Printed circuit antennas cover the 3G, 4G & LTE bands
Antenova has introduced three flexible printed circuit antennas to cover the 3G, 4G and LTE bands, the company’s first flexible antennas for 4G and LTE. Together, this set of three antennas offers options for all of the world’s 4G and LTE bands, as well as a choice of antenna shape and size.
Game-changing series 5 PV module
The game-changing new Series 5 thin film photovoltaic (PV) module will be showcased by First Solar at Intersolar 2016. This will mark the first time that the module, which features a form factor that is similar to a conventional crystalline silicon (c-Si) panel, will be on display in Europe.
Wireless BeagleBone replaces Ethernet connection
The BeagleBone Green Wireless, a Linux-based development board from BeagleBoard.org and Seeed Studio is now available from distributor Mouser Electronics. The BeagleBone Green Wireless is the first board in the BeagleBone community to feature a wireless connection, boasting both 2.4GHz Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.1 low energy connectivity in place of the BeagleBone Green’s Ethernet connection.
Data logger gets connected to cloud
IPETRONIK is offering the new communication module COMgate V3 for wireless data transmission in accordance with 4G and LTE standards with its M-LOG V3 data logger. The hardware system is complemented by the IPEcloud web portal, which supports high-speed and secure remote data transmission through to smart fleet management. The M-LOG V3 data logger is for validating and testing development vehicle fleets.
Debug engine search function enables rapid trace data analysis
With highly complex automotive microcontrollers ‒ such as Infineon’s AURIX family or the PowerArchitecture-based SPC58E series from STMicroelectronics ‒ very large amounts of trace data accrue in a very short period of time, especially when the data are recorded through a high bandwidth trace interface like Aurora.
RFPAL significantly improves base station system efficiency
Designers can now lower the power, cost and size of the RFFE with the SC2200 dual-channel RFPAL (RF Power Amplifier Lineariser) from Maxim Integrated Products. The lineariser enables power amplifiers to consume up to 70% less power compared to operation in back-off. In addition, it reduces the BOM cost by up to 50% and is up to eight times smaller than other Digital Pre-Distortion (DPD) solutions on the market.
Comms module boosts data logger performance
IPETRONIK is offering the new communication module COMgate V3 for wireless data transmission in accordance with 4G and LTE standards for its M-LOG V3 data logger. The hardware system is complemented by the IPEcloud web portal, which supports high-speed and secure remote data transmission through to smart fleet management.
MMICs feature in global distribution pact
An exclusive global distribution agreement has been signed by Mouser Electronics and Guerrilla RF, a provider of high-performance monolithic microwave integrated circuits (MMICs) to wireless infrastructure manufacturers. The Guerrilla RF product line comprises four series of low-noise amplifiers (LNAs).
